Factors Affecting E-Book Usage Behavior among the User of Academic Resources and Information Technology, Rajabhat Maha Sarakham University

Abstract

The purposes of this research were: 1) to explore and compare the usage behavior of electronic books (E-Book), 2) to examine the correlation between the factors and the the usage behavior of E-Book, and 3) to examine the factors that influence the usage behavior of E-Book The samples were consisted of 922 participants including 390 the undergraduate student, 295 graduate student, and 237 lecturer who were the user of Academic Resources and Information Technology, Rajabhat Maha Sarakham University. The research instrument was a questionnaire and the data were analyzed using by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, independent samples t-test, One-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and the multiple regression analysis.

The results of the study were as follows: 1) the users need of E-Book was at an immediate level while as the usage behavior and the user intension of an E-Book were at high level. Moreover, the behavioral comparative study affirmed that both males and females showed no difference in their eBook usage behavior; those participants between 54 – 60 years old showed their need and usage behavior of E-Book the most; the participants between 18-23 years old had a highest intention for E-Book use; those from the Faculty of Informatics mostly showed their need of an E-Book use whereas the participants from the Faculty of Engineering used an E-Book more often than the others; and the participants from the Faculty of Informatics also had an intention of an E-Book use the most. Notably, the lecturers had greater need and intention of E-Book use than did the students, 2) Based on the correlation analysis, it was found that the factors correlated with the student’s usage behavior of E-Book were the perception of the easy to use and the perception of the benefits of E-Book. Meanwhile, those factors correlated with the lecturer’s E-Book usage behavior were the service quality, the perception of the benefits, the perception of the easy to use, and the attitude toward E-Book use, 3) The factors that influenced the student’s usage behavior of E-Book were the perception of the easy to use and the perception of the benefits of E-Book use, whereas the factors that influenced the lecturer’s usage behavior of E-Book were the attitude toward, and the perception of the benefit of E-Book use.

การวิจัยครั้งนี้นี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) ศึกษาและเปรียบเทียบพฤติกรรมการใช้หนังสืออิเล็กทรอนิกส์ 2) ศึกษาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างปัจจัยกับพฤติกรรมการใช้หนังสืออิเล็กทรอนิกส์ และ 3) ศึกษาปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อพฤติกรรมการใช้หนังสืออิเล็กทรอนิกส์ของผู้ใช้บริการ การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีกลุ่มตัวอย่าง จำนวน 922 คนคือ นักศึกษาระดับปริญญาตรี 390 คน ระดับบัณฑิตศึกษา 295 คน และอาจารย์ 237 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้คือแบบสอบถาม และสถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ได้แก่ ค่าความถี่ ร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน การทดสอบค่าทีแบบ independent t-test การวิเคราะห์ค่าความแปรปรวนทางเดียว ค่าสัมประสิทธิ์สหสัมพันธ์แบบเพียร์สัน และสถิติการวิเคราะห์ถดถอยเชิงพหุคูณ

ผลการวิจัย พบว่า 1) ผู้ใช้บริการมีความต้องการใช้อยู่ในระดับปานกลาง มีการใช้งานและมีความตั้งใจที่จะใช้งานอยู่ในระดับมาก การเปรียบเทียบพฤติกรรมการใช้หนังสืออิเล็กทรอนิกส์ พบว่า เพศชายและเพศหญิงมีพฤติกรรมการใช้งานไม่แตกต่างกัน ช่วงอายุ 54-60 ปี มีความต้องการและมีการใช้มากที่สุด ส่วนช่วงอายุ 18-23 ปี มีความตั้งใจใช้มากที่สุด คณะวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยีมีความต้องการใช้มากที่สุด คณะวิศวกรรมศาสตร์มีการใช้มากที่สุด ส่วนคณะเทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศเป็นคณะที่มีความตั้งใจใช้มากที่สุด อาจารย์มีความต้องการใช้ การใช้และความตั้งใจใช้หนังสืออิเล็กทรอนิกส์มากกว่านักศึกษา 2) ปัจจัยที่มีความสัมพันธ์กับพฤติกรรมการใช้หนังสืออิเล็กทรอนิกส์ของนักศึกษา คือ ปัจจัยด้านการรับรู้ว่าใช้งานง่ายและปัจจัยด้านการรับรู้ประโยชน์ ส่วน ปัจจัยที่มีความสัมพันธ์กับพฤติกรรมการใช้หนังสืออิเล็กทรอนิกส์ของอาจารย์ คือ ปัจจัยด้านคุณภาพการบริการ การรับรู้ถึงประโยชน์ การรับรู้ว่าใช้งานง่าย และทัศนคติที่มีต่อการใช้งาน และ 3) ปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อพฤติกรรมการใช้หนังสืออิเล็กทรอนิกส์ของนักศึกษา คือ ปัจจัยด้านการรับรู้ถึงประโยชน์ และปัจจัยด้านการรับรู้ว่าใช้งานง่าย ส่วนปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อพฤติกรรมการใช้หนังสืออิเล็กทรอนิกส์ของอาจารย์ คือ ทัศนคติต่อการใช้งานและการรับรู้ถึงประโยชน์
