วิทยานิพนธ์นี้มีจุดมุ่งหมาย 1)เพื่อศึกษาประวัติของหมอลำวีระพงษ์ วงศ์ศิลป์ 2)เพื่อศึกษากระบวนการการถ่ายทอดลำทำนองกาฬสินธุ์ของหมอลำวีระพงษ์ วงศ์ศิลป์ มีการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลจากเอกสารและภาคสนาม ทำการศึกษาระหว่างเดือนกรกฎาคม 2562- เดือนธันวาคม 2562 เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย เป็นแบบสัมภาษณ์แบบไม่มีโครงสร้างและแบบสังเกต บุคลากรที่ให้ข้อมูลประกอบด้วย หมอลำวีระพงษ์ วงศ์ศิลป์ ลูกศิษย์ที่เคยเรียน ลูกศิษย์กำลังเรียน สมาชิกในวงและนำเสนอผลการวิจัยโดยวิธีพรรณนาวิเคราะห์ ผลการวิจัยพบว่า

1)เดิมหมอลำวีระพงษ์ วงศ์ศิลป์ ประกอบอาชีพเปิดร้านตัดผม หมอลำวีระพงษ์ ให้ความสนใจเรื่องการร้องการลำ ความใฝ่ฝันตั้งแต่เด็ก ๆ อยากมีวงเป็นของตนเอง อยากเป็นหมอลำ อยากมีคนรู้จักมากขึ้น โดยได้รับการถ่ายทอดจากอาจารย์ทันใจหวาน ซึ่งเป็นผู้ฝึกสอนการลำและการฟ้อนให้ อีกทั้งตนเองมีพรสวรรค์ในด้านนี้จึงเรียนรู้ได้อย่างรวดเร็ว เริ่มอาชีพหมอลำอย่างเต็มตัวตอนนั้นเพียงอายุ 19 ปี ในปี 2526 ออกเดินสายรับจ้างลำตามงานต่างๆ เพียงคนเดียว จากนั้นต่อมา เมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2529 เริ่มไปเป็นศิลปินหมอลำกับหมอลำคณะซุปเปอร์สารคาม หมอลำเรื่องต่อกลอนทำนองกาฬสินธุ์สารคาม เป็นหมอลำที่มีชื่อเสียงในจังหวัดมหาสารคาม และได้รับบทพระเอก ต่อมาเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2531 ย้ายมาสังกัดกับหมอลำคณะซุปเปอร์มหากาฬ หมอลำเรื่องต่อกลอนทำนองกาฬสินธุ์สารคาม ซึ่งมีฉายาว่า รุ่งตะวัน แดนภูไท ปี พ.ศ.2533 ย้ายมาอยู่กับหมอลำคณะฟ้าสีคราม เป็นหมอลำเรื่องต่อกลอนทำนองกาฬสินธุ์สารคาม ที่โด่งดังมากในยุคนั้นออกเดินสายลำทั่วอีสานในหลายจังหวัด เช่น ร้อยเอ็ด ยโสธร กาฬสินธุ์ ขอนแก่น สกลนคร นครพนม และอุบลราชธานี สังกัดอยู่กับวงนี้นานมาก ประมาณ 19 ปีกว่า รับบทพระเอก และต่อมารับบทพ่อพญา แฟนเพลงให้การตอบรับมากขึ้นจนมีชื่อเสียง และเป็นวงสุดท้ายก่อนที่จะตัดสินใจมาตั้งวงเอง เมื่อปี พ.ศ.2547 ตั้งวงดนตรีหมอลำพื้นบ้าน คณะวีระพงษ์ วงศ์ศิลป์ ศิลปินภูไท จนมีชื่อเสียงโด่งดังจนถึงปัจจุบัน

2)กระบวนการถ่ายทอดของหมอลำวีระพงษ์ วงศ์ศิลป์ นั้นมีวิธีการรับลูกศิยษ์ที่มีใจรักในด้านเสียงร้องเสียงลำ การท่องจำกลอนลำเป็นการศึกษากลอนลำให้เข้าใจด้วยตัวเอง จะเป็นกามอบหมายให้ลูกศิษย์นำกลอนลำไปท่องจำให้ขึ้นใจ โดยที่ยังไม่ลำใส่กับท่วงทำนอง แต่เน้นการจดจำในเรื่องของคำในบทกลอนให้แม่นยำและขึ้นใจ การออกเสียงแต่ละคำในบทกลอนลำ ให้ชัด ฉะฉาน หมอลำวีระพงษ์ วงศ์ศิลป์ ถ่ายทอดท่วงทำนองลำต่างๆ ไปยังลูกศิษย์ด้วยวิธีสาธิตการลำ ให้ดูเป็นตัวอย่างก่อนแล้วจึงเริ่มถ่ายทอด การถ่ายทอดท่วงทำนองนั้นๆ ด้วยวิธีการออกเสียง ระดับเสียงที่ถูกต้องของคำ กลอนแต่ละคำการเอื้อนลูกคอของคำกลอนแต่ละคำในทุกคำที่มีในบทกลอนลำนั้นๆ ในกระบวนการฝึกท่วงทำนองนี้ต้องอาศัยความอดทนของลูกศิษย์อย่างมาก เพราะต้อง ออกเสียงของคำกลอนแต่ละคำให้ถูกต้องชัดเจนแล้ว ระดับเสียงของคำกลอนนั้นต้องเป็นระดับเสียง ที่ถูกต้องตามทำนองการลำ โดยการเทียบระดับเสียงจากเสียงแคน โดยในการเรียนแต่ละครั้งหมอลำวีระพงษ์ วงศ์ศิลป์จะบันทึกเสียงร้องของตัวเองไว้ให้ลูกศิษย์เอากลับไปฟังหรือฝึกซ้อมด้วยตัวเอง
