The Use of Problem-based Learning Management in the Social Studies to Develop Analytical Thinking of Grade 5 Students

Abstract

The purposes of the current studies were 1) to develop problem-based learning management in the Social Studies course to develop analytical thinking of grade 5 students with the effectiveness index of 75/75, 2) to compare grade 5 students’ analytical thinking before and after using the problem-based learning management in the Social Studies course, and 3) to study grade 5 students’ satisfaction toward the developed problem-based learning management in the Social Studies course. The target group includes 9 grade 5 students during the first semester of the 2021 academic year in Nong Bua Dang Wittaya School, Nong Song Hong District, Khon Kaen province. The instruments were 1) problem-based learning management in the Social Studies course on the topic of population and environment including 6 lesson plans (12 hours) with a very high level of appropriateness (x̅ = 4.42), 2) a test for analytical thinking consisting of 4-multiple-choice 30 questions items with the difficulty of .20-.80, discrimination of .20-1.0, and reliability of 0.93, 3) a satisfaction questionnaire with 10 question items designed in 5 rating scales, discrimination of .36-.68, and reliability of .83. The statistics used in data analysis include percentage, mean score, and standard deviation.

The results of the study were as follows:

1. The effectiveness of the problem-based learning management in the Social Studies course to develop analytical thinking of grade 5 students was at 75.92/80.74 reaching the criterion of 75/75.

2. Students’ analytical thinking after using the problem-based learning management in the Social Studies course was significantly higher than before using the treatment.

3. The students’ satisfaction toward the developed problem-based learning management in the Social Studies course was at a high level (x̅ = 4.25, S.D. = 0.40).

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีจุดมุ่งหมาย 1) เพื่อพัฒนาแผนการจัดการเรียนรู้โดยใช้ปัญหาเป็นฐาน วิชาสังคมศึกษา ของนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 5 ให้มีประสิทธิภาพตามเกณฑ์ 75/75 2) เพื่อเปรียบเทียบความสามารถในการคิดวิเคราะห์ ด้วยการจัดการเรียนรู้โดยใช้ปัญหาเป็นฐาน วิชาสังคมศึกษา ของนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 5 ระหว่างก่อนเรียนและหลังเรียน 3) เพื่อศึกษาความพึงพอใจ ที่มีต่อการจัดการเรียนรู้โดยใช้ปัญหาเป็นฐาน ของนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 5 กลุ่มเป้าหมาย ได้แก่ นักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 5 โรงเรียนบ้านหนองบัวแดงวิทยา อำเภอหนองสองห้อง จังหวัดขอนแก่น ภาคเรียนที่ 1 ปี การศึกษา 2564 จำนวน 9 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย ได้แก่ 1) แผนการจัดการเรียนรู้โดยใช้ปัญหาเป็นฐาน เรื่อง ประชากรและสิ่งแวดล้อม จำนวน 6 แผน เวลา 12 ชั่วโมง โดยแผนการจัดการเรียนรู้อยู่ในระดับเหมาะสมมากที่สุด (x̅ = 4.42) 2) แบบทดสอบวัดความสามารถในการคิดวิเคราะห์ ชนิดเลือกตอบ 4 ตัวเลือกจำนวน 30 ข้อ มีค่าความยากรายข้อตั้งแต่ 0.20 ถึง 0.80 มีค่าอำนาจจำแนกรายข้อ (r) ตั้งแต่ 0.20 ถึง 1.00 และมีค่าความเชื่อมั่นทั้งฉบับเท่ากับ 0.93 3) แบบวัดความพึงพอใจของนักเรียนที่มีต่อการจัดการเรียนรู้โดยใช้ปัญหาเป็นฐาน เป็นแบบมาตราส่วนประมาณค่า (Rating Scale) 5 ระดับ จำนวน 10 ข้อ มีค่าอำนาจจำแนกรายข้อตั้งแต่ 0.36 ถึง 0.68 และมีความเชื่อมั่นทั้งฉบับเท่ากับ 0.83 สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ได้แก่ ร้อยละ (Percentage) ค่าเฉลี่ย (x̅) และส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน (S.D.)

ผลการวิจัยปรากฏดังนี้

1. แผนการจัดการเรียนรู้โดยใช้ปัญหาเป็นฐานวิชาสังคมศึกษา ของนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 5 มีประสิทธิภาพเท่ากับ 75.92/80.74 ซึ่งเป็นไปตามเกณฑ์ที่กำหนด 75/75

2. นักเรียนที่ได้รับการจัดการเรียนรู้โดยใช้ปัญหาเป็นฐาน วิชาสังคมศึกษา มีความสามารถในการคิดวิเคราะห์ หลังเรียนสูงกว่าก่อนเรียน

3. นักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 5 มีความพึงพอใจต่อการการจัดการเรียนรู้โดยใช้ปัญหาเป็นฐาน วิชาสังคมศึกษา โดยรวมอยู่ในระดับมาก (x̅ = 4.25 และ S.D. = 0.40)
