THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MODERN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY APPLICATION AND OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY OF FOOD INDUSTRY BUSINESSES IN THAILAND

Abstract

Nowadays, the information technology has played an important role in our daily lives as well as in business organizations. Since the information technology has been the main factor in which it is the great driving force for helping businesses grow in both short and long terms under the changes in business environment, the information technology has become the major part for organization development as well as the major tool in creating competitive advantages. According to the fact that the food industry businesses are one of the largest industrial businesses with having operational potentiality, they have therefore focused on using the information technology in a part of operations in order to build a firm foundation of food in Thailand.

There showed that, a variety of organizations have focused on using the information technology in working, produce development, supplying raw materials for manufacturing and new kind of services as well as applying the information technology to increase effectiveness and efficiency in organization operations. Therefore, the author studied about the relationship between Modern Information Technology application and operational efficiency of food industry businesses in Thailand by collecting information from 107 business executives of food industry in Thailand and the instruments used in the study were questionnaires. The information was analyzed by using t - test , F - test (ANOVA and MANOVA), multiple correlation analysis, simple regression analysis, and multiple regression analysis.

The results found that Executive of food industry businesses corresponds attitude toward Modern Information Technology Applications in total and each subtotal with agree in high level for resources Data Resource Management, System Planning and Development andDecision Support System. The executives also revealed high opinion for the Customer Perspective, internal process, learning and development and financialaspects.

Executive of food industry businesses with difference in business model, business type,operational capital, duration of operation, employees and average income per year have difference in opinion about modern information technology applications with no significant difference.(p>0.05)

Executive of food industry businesses with difference in business model, business type, operational capital, duration of operation, employees and average income per year have difference in opinion about operational efficiency with no significant difference.(p>0.05)

From relation and effect analysis, Modern Information Technology Applications of Decision Support System related and positively affect the Operational Efficiency of Financial Perspective.

In conclusion, the relationship and the effect between applying modern information technology and operational efficiency of food industry businesses in Thailand were positive. Therefore, the organizations have to realize that the information technology is able to be brought to apply in operational processes, problems solutions, or to help the operational processes get even faster. Additionally, applying the information technology is able to enhance cooperation capacity, reduce costs making the result of applying information technology in organizations more effective as well as causing the operational efficiency to be more successful.

ในปัจจุบันเทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศได้เข้ามามีบทบาทในชีวิตประจำวันและการดำเนินงานของธุรกิจเป็นอย่างมาก เนื่องจากเทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศเป็นปัจจัยหลักที่เป็นตัวขับเคลื่อนสำคัญขององค์กรที่จะสามารถเติบโตได้ทั้งในระยะสั้นและระยะยาว ภายใต้การเปลี่ยนแปลงของสภาพแวดล้อมทางธุรกิจ เทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศจึงมีส่วนสำคัญต่อองค์กรและยังเป็นเครื่องมือสำคัญในการสร้างความได้เปรียบในการแข่งขันซึ่งในธุรกิจอุตสาหกรรมอาหารเป็นธุรกิจอุตสาหกรรมขนาดใหญ่ที่มีศักยภาพในการดำเนินงาน จึงได้ให้ความสำคัญกับการใช้เทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศเข้ามามีบทบาทในการดำเนินงานเพื่อก่อให้เกิดการสร้างความที่มั่นคงทางด้านอาหารของประเทศไทย ดังนั้น องค์กรต่างๆ จึงได้ให้ความสำคัญกับการใช้เทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศเพื่อนำมาใช้ ในการปฏิบัติงาน การพัฒนาสินค้า การจัดหาวัตถุดิบในการผลิตและบริการใหม่ๆ ทั้งยังนำเทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศมาประยุกต์ใช้เพื่อเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพและประสิทธิผลในการดำเนินงานขององค์กร ดังนั้น ผู้วิจัยจึงได้ศึกษาวิจัย ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างการประยุกต์ใช้เทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศสมัยใหม่กับประสิทธิภาพการดำเนินงานของธุรกิจอุตสาหกรรมอาหารในประเทศไทย โดยทำการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลจากผู้บริหารธุรกิจอุตสาหกรรมอาหารในประเทศไทย จำนวน 107 คน และใช้แบบสอบถามเป็นเครื่องมือ สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ได้แก่ t - test , F - test (ANOVA และ MANOVA) การวิเคราะห์สหสัมพันธ์แบบพหุคูณการวิเคราะห์การถดถอยอย่างง่าย และการวิเคราะห์การถดถอยแบบพหุคูณ

ผลการวิจัย พบว่า ผู้บริหารธุรกิจอุตสาหกรรมอาหาร มีความคิดเห็นด้วยเกี่ยวกับการมีการประยุกต์ใช้เทคโนโลยีเทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศสมัยใหม่โดยรวมและเป็นรายด้านอยู่ในระดับมาก ได้แก่ ด้านการจัดการทรัพยากรข้อมูล ด้านการวางแผนและพัฒนาระบบและด้านการสนับสนุนการตัดสินใจ และมีความคิดเห็นด้วยเกี่ยวกับการมีประสิทธิภาพ การดำเนินงาน โดยรวมและเป็นรายด้านอยู่ในระดับมาก ได้แก่ ด้านลูกค้า ด้านกระบวนการภายใน ด้านการเรียนรู้และการพัฒนา และด้านการเงิน

ผู้บริหารธุรกิจอุตสาหกรรมอาหารที่มีรูปแบบธุรกิจ ประเภทธุรกิจ ทุนในการดำเนินงาน ระยะเวลาในการดำเนินงาน จำนวนพนักงาน รายได้เฉลี่ยต่อปีแตกต่างกัน มีความเห็นด้วยเกี่ยวกับการประยุกต์เทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศสมัยใหม่ไม่แตกต่างกัน (p>0.05)

ผู้บริหารธุรกิจอุตสาหกรรมอาหารที่มีรูปแบบธุรกิจ ประเภทธุรกิจ ทุนในการดำเนินงาน ระยะเวลาในการดำเนินงาน จำนวนพนักงาน รายได้เฉลี่ยต่อปีแตกต่างกัน มีความเห็นด้วยเกี่ยวกับประสิทธิภาพการดำเนินงานไม่แตกต่างกัน (p>0.05)

จากการวิเคราะห์ความสัมพันธ์และผลกระทบ พบว่า การมีการประยุกต์ใช้เทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศสมัยใหม่ ด้านการสนับสนุนการตัดสินใจ มีความสัมพันธ์และผลกระทบเชิงบวกกับประสิทธิภาพการดำเนินงาน ด้านการเงิน

โดยสรุป การประยุกต์ใช้เทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศสมัยใหม่ มีความสัมพันธ์และผลกระทบเชิงบวกกับประสิทธิภาพการดำเนินงานของธุรกิจอุตสาหกรรมอาหารในประเทศไทย ดังนั้น องค์กร ต้องตระหนักและนำเทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศมาประยุกต์ใช้เป็นเครื่องมือ ในการดำเนินงาน การแก้ไขปัญหาหรือช่วยในการดำเนินงาน ให้เกิดความสะดวก รวดเร็ว อีกทั้งเพื่อเพิ่มขีดความสามารถในกระบวนการดำเนินงานที่มีประสิทธิภาพจากการการประยุกต์ใช้เทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศสมัยใหม่ขององค์กร ส่งผลให้เกิดประสิทธิภาพการดำเนินงานได้อย่างประสบผลสำเร็จ
