English Pronunciation Skill Development by use of the Phonics Method of Grade 1 Student

Abstract

The present study aimed 1) to investigate the effect of learning activity package English Pronunciation by use of the Phonics method of grade 1 students. 2) to investigate efficiency of the lesson plan on the learning activity entitled English Pronunciation by use of the Phonics method of grade 1 students to achieve the criteria 80/80 of the efficacy. 3) to investigate the effectiveness index of English Pronunciation by use of the Phonics method of grade 1 students. The sample group of this study was 25 grade 1 students in the first semester of 2022 academic year from Nonghangwithaya School, At Samat district, Roi-Et province under control of The Primary Educational Service Area Office 2. The sample was selected by Purposive Sampling. The instruments used in the study comprised of 1) 18 lesson plans of using on the learning activity entitled English Pronunciation by use of the Phonics method of grade 1 students which lasted 18 hours and each one lasted 1 hour. 2) 1 set 10 words 20 points of The English Pronunciation Skill Test before and after learning through Phonics method, vocabulary from English textbook Smile1 for grade 1 students created for students to read aloud individually which the difficulty (P) was 0.46-0.67, the discrimination (B) was 0.25-1.00 and the reliability (rcc) was 0.58, The statistics used to analyze the data were percentage, mean and standard deviation.

The results of the study revealed that:

1. The effect of learning activity package English Pronunciation by use of the Phonics method of grade 1 students which yielded that students had The English Pronunciation Skill which was 80.06 reaching excellent level.

2. The efficiency of the lesson plan on the learning activity entitled English Pronunciation by use of the Phonics method of grade 1 students shown that there was 80.06/82.60 which meets the set criteria 80/80.

3. The effectiveness index of English Pronunciation by use of the Phonics method of grade 1 students revealed that there was 0.7184 which yielded that students had The English Pronunciation Skill which was 71.84 percent.

In conclusion, English Pronunciation Skill Development by use of the Phonics method of grade 1 students can improve English pronunciation in which resulted in greater confidence in reading aloud skill, and realizing the importance of learning English.

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีความมุ่งหมายเพื่อ 1) เพื่อศึกษาผลการจัดกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้การอ่านออกเสียงคำศัพท์ภาษาอังกฤษโดยใช้การสอนแบบโฟนิกส์ของนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 1 2) เพื่อศึกษาประสิทธิภาพของแผนการจัดกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้การอ่านออกเสียงภาษาอังกฤษของนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 1 โดยใช้การสอนแบบโฟนิกส์ ให้มีประสิทธิภาพตามเกณฑ์ 80/80 3) เพื่อศึกษาดัชนีประสิทธิผลของการอ่านออกเสียงภาษาอังกฤษของนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 1 โดยใช้การสอนแบบโฟนิกส์ กลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ใช้ในการวิจัยครั้งนี้ ได้แก่ นักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 1/1 จำนวน 25 คน ภาคเรียนที่ 1 ปีการศึกษาที่ 2565 โรงเรียนหนองฮางวิทยา อำเภออาจสามารถ จังหวัดร้อยเอ็ด สำนักงานเขตพื้นที่การศึกษาประถมศึกษาร้อยเอ็ด เขต 2 ซึ่งได้มาโดยวิธีการเลือกแบบเจาะจง (Purposive Sampling) เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย 1) แผนการจัดกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้การอ่านออกเสียงภาษาอังกฤษโดยใช้การสอนแบบโฟนิกส์ จำนวน 6 บทเรียน บทละ 3 แผน รวม 18 ชั่วโมง 2) แบบวัดทักษะในการอ่านออกเสียงภาษาอังกฤษ เพื่อใช้ทดสอบก่อนเรียนและหลังเรียน จำนวน 1 ชุด 10 คำ 20 คะแนน เป็นคำศัพท์จากหนังสือเรียนรายวิชาพื้นฐานภาษาอังกฤษ Smile1 สำหรับนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 1 ที่ผู้วิจัยสร้างขึ้นเพื่อให้ผู้เรียนอ่านออกเสียงเป็นรายบุคคล มีค่าความยาก (P) ตั้งแต่ 0.46-0.67 มีอำนาจจำแนก (B) ตั้งแต่ 0.25-1.00 มีค่าความเชื่อมั่นทั้งฉบับ (rcc) เท่ากับ 0.58 สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ได้แก่ ร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย และส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน

ผลการวิจัยปรากฏ ดังนี้

1. ผลการจัดกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้การอ่านออกเสียงคำศัพท์ภาษาอังกฤษโดยใช้การสอนแบบโฟนิกส์ของนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 1 พบว่า ผู้เรียนมีทักษะการอ่านออกเสียงคำศัพท์ภาษาอังกฤษโดยใช้การสอนแบบโฟนิกส์ อยู่ในเกณฑ์ร้อยละ 80.06 ซึ่งมีระดับคุณภาพดีเยี่ยม

2. ประสิทธิภาพของแผนการจัดกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้การอ่านออกเสียงภาษาอังกฤษของนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 1 โดยใช้การสอนแบบโฟนิกส์ มีประสิทธิภาพเท่ากับ 80.06/82.60 ซึ่งเป็นไปตามเกณฑ์ที่กำหนดไว้คือ 80/80

3. ค่าดัชนีประสิทธิผลของการอ่านออกเสียงภาษาอังกฤษของนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 1 โดยใช้การสอนแบบโฟนิกส์ มีค่าเท่ากับ 0.7184 แสดงว่านักเรียนมีทักษะการอ่านออกเสียงภาษาอังกฤษ ร้อยละ 71.84

โดยสรุป การพัฒนาทักษะการอ่านออกเสียงภาษาอังกฤษโดยใช้การสอนแบบโฟนิกส์ของนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 1 สามารถพัฒนาการอ่านออกเสียงภาษาอังกฤษให้ดียิ่งขึ้น ส่งผลให้ผู้เรียนมีความมั่นใจในการอ่านออกเสียงเพิ่มขึ้นจากเดิม และเห็นความสำคัญต่อการเรียนวิชาภาษาอังกฤษ
