Abstract

The visual arts creation thesis entitled Symbol of Urban Life, was inspired by After young people come to the city, they go through the process of working, falling in love, and building new families in pursuit of a better life. This study aimed to Study the lifestyle of young people in the city, and combining the character design with architectural features. and to create the visual arts which was sculpture that expressed via form The Symbol of Urban Life. The scope of conceptual creation of the study was Extract typical actions and forms, and express them through forms with architectural order and aesthetic beauty. The forms of the creation work included Construct figurative sculptures through layering and overlaying forms. and the techniques were Computer Technology and Laser Cutting. This creative work was conducted by the data collected from the conditions of the environment, the data from related documents, and the data about the creation of influential visual arts. The researcher analyzed the data to find the clarity of the theme, symbolic form, and creation techniques.

The results of the study and creation revealed that Creating with male and female figures as symbols of the new urban family, just as the West uses the images of Adam and Eve as a symbol of human birth and beginning. Through the stacking of sliced layers, like building a house, the complete bodies gradually take shape, symbolizing young people achieving their ideal lives through continuous effort and accumulation. The sculpture's elusive visual effects, as well as the rotating and overlapping states of the characters, express the confusion and disorientation of contemporary young people in the city from another perspective, creating a unique aesthetic effect.

In conclusion, Through symbolic character creation, it shows the state of modern urban life, which is more likely to arouse people's resonance and trigger people to think about the relationship between people and the city.
