Enhancing Reading Compression Competency through SQ4R Method with Instructional Packages for Mathayomsuksa 1

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to 1) determine the effectiveness of Thai language subject learning management plans on reading comprehension of Mathayomsuksa 1 students using the SQ4R learning management process integrated with skills exercises according to the criteria of 80/80, 2) compare the reading comprehension ability of the students before and after the implementation of the SQ4R learning management process integrated with skills exercises, and 3) study the satisfaction of the Mathayomsuksa 1 students towards the SQAR learning management process integrated with skills exercises. The sample group of this research consisted of 40 students who were studying in Mathayomsuksa 1, section 4, in the second semester of the academic year 2022, from Don Bosco Wittaya School, Muang Udon Thani District, Udon Thani Province. The sample was selected using cluster sampling. The research instruments included 1) 6 learning management plans on reading comprehension using the SQ4R learning management process integrated with skills exercises for Mathayomsuksa 1 students with 12 hours in total, 2) 30-item of reading comprehension test for Mathayomsuksa 1 students which was multiple-choice with 4 options, and 3) 10-item questionnaire on the satisfaction toward the SQ4R learning management process and skills exercises. The statistics used to analysed the data consisted of percentages, mean, standard deviation, and t- test.

The research findings were as follows;

1. The result of the development of Thai language subject learning management plans on reading comprehension of Mathayomsuksa 1 students using the SQ4R learning management process integrated with skills exercises show that the level of effectiveness (E1/E2) was at 83.32/83.08 which was higher than the defined criteria.

2. The comparison of the reading comprehension ability of Mathayomsuksa students who were taught reading comprehension using the SQ4R learning management process integrated with skills exercises found that the mean scores were 12.88 and 24.93 respectively, when compared the pretest and post-test scores found that the reading comprehension post-test score was higher than the pretest score significantly at the level of .05

3. The satisfaction of Mathayomsuksa 1 students toward the SQ4R learning management process integrated with skills exercises was at a high level ( = 4.27, S.D. = 0.55).

การวิจัยนี้มีความมุ่งหมายเพื่อ 1) หาประสิทธิภาพแผนการจัดการเรียนรู้วิชาภาษาไทย เรื่อง การอ่านจับใจความของนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 1 โดยใช้กระบวนการจัดการเรียนรู้แบบ SQ4R ร่วมกับแบบฝึกทักษะ ตามเกณฑ์ร้อยละ 80/80 2) เปรียบเทียบความสามารถด้านการอ่านจับใจความ ก่อนเรียนและหลังเรียน และ 3) ศึกษาความพึงพอใจของนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 1 ที่มีต่อกระบวนการจัดการเรียนรู้แบบ SQ4R ร่วมกับแบบฝึกทักษะ กลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ใช้ในการวิจัย ได้แก่ นักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 1 ห้อง 4 ภาคเรียนที่ 2 ปีการศึกษา 2565 จำนวน 40 คน โรงเรียนดอนบอสโกวิทยา อำเภอเมืองอุดรธานี จังหวัดอุดรธานี ได้มาโดยการเลือกตัวอย่างแบบกลุ่ม (Cluster Sampling) เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย ได้แก่ 1) แผนการจัดการเรียนรู้ เรื่อง การอ่านจับใจความ โดยใช้กระบวนการจัดการเรียนรู้แบบ SQ4R ร่วมกับแบบฝึกทักษะการอ่านจับใจความ สำหรับนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 1 จำนวน 6 แผน 12 ชั่วโมง 2) แบบทดสอบวัดความสามารถด้านการอ่านจับใจความ สำหรับนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 1 ซึ่งเป็นแบบทดสอบชนิดปรนัย แบบเลือกตอบ 4 ตัวเลือก จำนวน 30 ข้อ และ 3) แบบสอบถามความพึงพอใจที่มีต่อกระบวนการจัดการเรียนรู้แบบ SQ4R ร่วมกับแบบฝึกทักษะ จำนวน 10 ข้อ สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ได้แก่ ร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ค่าส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และค่า t-test

ผลการวิจัยปรากฏ ดังนี้

1. ผลการพัฒนาแผนการจัดการเรียนรู้วิชาภาษาไทย เรื่อง การอ่านจับใจความ ของนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 1 โดยใช้กระบวนการจัดการเรียนรู้แบบ SQ4R ร่วมกับแบบฝึกทักษะ พบว่า มีประสิทธิภาพ (E1/E2) เท่ากับ 83.32/83.08 ซึ่งสูงกว่าเกณฑ์ที่กำหนด

2. ผลการเปรียบเทียบความสามารถด้านการอ่านจับใจความ ของนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 1 ที่ได้รับการจัดการเรียนรู้ เรื่อง การอ่านจับใจความ โดยใช้กระบวนการจัดการเรียนรู้แบบ SQ4R ร่วมกับแบบฝึกทักษะ โดยมีคะแนนเฉลี่ย เท่ากับ 12.88 คะแนน และ 24.93 คะแนน ตามลำดับ และเมื่อเปรียบเทียบระหว่างคะแนนก่อนเรียนและหลังเรียนพบว่า คะแนนความสามารถด้านการอ่านจับใจความ หลังเรียนสูงกว่าก่อนเรียน อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05

3. ผลการศึกษาความพึงพอใจของนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 1 ที่มีต่อกระบวนการจัดการเรียนรู้แบบ SQ4R ร่วมกับแบบฝึกทักษะ โดยภาพรวมอยู่ในระดับมาก ( = 4.27, S.D. = 0.55)
