Through literature review and empirical analysis, the study delves into the current status of ballroom dance curriculum design, the necessity for its development, and potential strategies for optimizing the curriculum. Firstly, the study reviews pragmatic educational management theories and vocational education management theories, constructs a conceptual framework for ballroom dance curriculum management, and discusses the specific curriculum content of the Ballroom Dance major at Guangxi Arts University. Subsequently, employing methods such as questionnaire surveys, expert interviews, and the Kreicie & Morgan sampling method, the study evaluates the components, status, expected conditions, and necessity of curriculum design, proposes effective strategies for developing the ballroom dance major curriculum, and assesses the implementation of the curriculum design scheme at Guangxi Arts University.
Research findings:
1. The components of the curriculum design for the International Standard Dance major consist of five categories of curriculum, with indicators representing the key professional competencies that should be emphasized within each category.
2. The current situation of the curriculum design for the International Standard Dance major reveals, through data analysis, that curriculum s such as Blanket Exercise, Pilates, Zen Yoga, Jazz Dance, Western Dance History, Sports Training, and Psychology have limited effectiveness in fostering the corresponding professional competencies in students and can be considered for removal. Other curriculum are to be retained. Expected conditions suggest that respondents perceive Movement Training, Physical Flexibility, Performance Skills, and Dance Perception as crucial aspects of ballet classes. The necessity lies in the need to improve curriculum content and teaching methods for areas with low scores and significant potential for improvement, establishing a continuous evaluation mechanism.
3. Effective development of the International Standard Dance major curriculum can be achieved through the design of a plan encompassing principles, objectives, content, procedures, and evaluation.
4. A proposed curriculum design for the International Standard Dance major at Guangxi Arts University is presented, emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary curriculum integration, advocating for the incorporation of cultural literacy and an international perspective into International Standard Dance teaching.
The conclusions of this study hold significant reference value for the curriculum design and management of international standard dance programs in Chinese universities, providing theoretical basis and practical solutions for curriculum reform at Guangxi Arts University and other art schools. - |
