The Development of Thai Vocabulary Spelling Ability using Learning Management with Picture Word Inductive Model for Primary Students

Abstract

Vocabulary spelling is one of the fundamental skills to learn a language. Being able to spell a word leads to the abilities to read and write the language. According to that the objectives of this research were 1) to develop a learning management model to improve the ability to spell Thai vocabulary based on the 75/75 standardized criteria efficiency (E1/E2) for primary students, and 2) To find the effectiveness index of learning management Using Picture Word Inductive Model learning management for elementary school students. The participants of this research consisted of 23 primary students of The Holy Infant Jesus Mahasarakham school, Mahasarakham province. They were selected by being tested with spelling quiz in semester 2 of academic year 2023 to participate in the school’s project called ‘Thai language Clinic’. Research tools being used were 1) 8 lesson plans blended with picture word inductive model; study time of two hours per plan, 16 hours in total, and 2) Thai vocabulary spelling test based on Phonics reading method, contained two sections; 30 questions of three-item multiple choice and 40 questions of read aloud spelling. Assessment rubric criteria: reading accuracy, ability to add or change words, pronunciation, and ability to read within assigned time. The statistics used were percentage, mean, standard deviation, and t-test (Dependent Samples).

The research results revealed that:

1. the efficiency of the learning management with picture word inductive model to improve primary students’ Thai vocabulary spelling skill was 89.49/83.66 which is higher than the 75/75.

2. Results of analysis to find the effectiveness index of learning management. Using Picture learning management with Picture Word Inductive Model to improve primary students’ was 0.6813, meaning that students who studied using the Picture Word Inductive Model learning management system had increased ability to read and spell words.

ทักษะด้านการอ่านสะกดคำเป็นทักษะพื้นฐานที่ผู้เรียนจะต้องเรียนรู้ เพราะการอ่านสะกดคำเป็นสำคัญในการอ่านเพื่อนำไปต่อยอดสู่การเรียนรู้ในด้านต่าง ๆ ดังนั้น การวิจัยครั้งนี้จึงมีความมุ่งหมายเพื่อ 1) เพื่อหาประสิทธิภาพของแผนการจัดการเรียนรู้โดยใช้การจัดการเรียนรู้แบบ Picture Word Inductive Model เพื่อส่งเสริมความสามารถด้านการอ่านสะกดคำของนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาให้มีประสิทธิภาพตามเกณฑ์ 75/75 2) เพื่อหาดัชนีประสิทธิผลของการจัดการเรียนรู้ โดยใช้การจัดการเรียนรู้แบบ Picture Word Inductive Model ของนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษา กลุ่มเป้าหมายที่ใช้ในการวิจัยครั้งนี้ ได้แก่ นักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษา โรงเรียนพระกุมารมหาสารคาม จังหวัดมหาสารคาม ภาคเรียนที่ 2 ปีการศึกษา 2566 จำนวน 23 คน ได้มาจากการคัดกรองโครงการคลินิกภาษา โดยการประเมินการทดสอบความสามารถพื้นฐานด้านการอ่านสะกดคำ ปีการศึกษา 2566 เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยคือ แผนการจัดการเรียนรู้วิชาภาษาไทย กลุ่มสาระการเรียนรู้ภาษาไทย ที่จัดการเรียนรู้แบบ Picture Word Inductive Model ที่ผู้วิจัยสร้างขึ้นจำนวน 8 แผน แผนละ 2 ชั่วโมง รวม 16 ชั่วโมง แบบทดสอบวัดความสามารถด้านการอ่านสะกดคำ กลุ่มสาระการเรียนรู้ภาษาไทย แบ่งเป็น 2 ตอน ตอนที่ 1 เป็นแบบทดสอบชนิดเลือกตอบ 3 ตัวเลือก จำนวน 30 ข้อ ตอนที่ 2 แบบทดสอบการอ่านสะกดคำคำศัพท์มาตราตัวสะกด จำนวน 40 ข้อ มีเกณฑ์การประเมินคือ การอ่านถูกต้องตามอักขรวิธี การอ่านเพิ่มคำหรือเปลี่ยนคำ ความชัดเจนในการอ่าน การอ่านในเวลาที่กำหนด สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ได้แก่ ร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย และส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน

ผลการวิจัยสรุปได้ดังนี้

1. ประสิทธิภาพของแผนการจัดการเรียนรู้โดยใช้การจัดการเรียนรู้แบบ Picture Word Inductive Model เพื่อส่งเสริมความสามารถในการอ่านสะกดคำของนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษา มีประสิทธิภาพ (E1/E2) = 89.49/83.66 ซึ่งสูงกว่าเกณฑ์ที่กำหนดไว้คือ 75/75

2. ผลการวิเคราะห์หาดัชนีประสิทธิผลของการจัดการเรียนรู้ โดยใช้การจัดการเรียนรู้แบบ Picture Word Inductive Model ของนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาได้เท่ากับ 0.6813 หมายความว่านักเรียนที่เรียนโดยใช้การจัดการเรียนรู้แบบ Picture Word Inductive Model มีความสามารถในการอ่านสะกดคำที่เพิ่มขึ้น
