Development of Digital Services Model for Faculty of Veterinary Sciences Library, Mahasarakham University

Abstract

This study aims to 1) examine the problems and needs related to the use of digital services for the library of the Faculty of Veterinary Science, Mahasarakham University, and 2) develop a digital service prototype for the library using the service design framework by the Creative Design Center. The main steps include 1) exploring and collecting data, 2) generating service concepts, and 3) testing and implementing the prototype. The research methodology is divided into two phases according to the objectives: Phase 1 focuses on studying the issues and needs of digital services for the library, and Phase 2 involves three steps in developing digital services for the library: 2.1) digital service design for the library, 2.2) development of a digital service prototype for the library, and 2.3) evaluation of the digital service prototype. The sample group consisted of 5 administrators, 20 faculty members, 5 scientists, 1 master’s student, 1 doctoral student, and 18 undergraduate students. Data were collected through interviews and focus group discussions.

The research findings indicate that the digital service design for the library of the Faculty of Veterinary Science, based on the service blueprint, yielded a prototype that meets user needs, including book search services, database services, online book borrowing, online recommendations for books and articles, consultation services, and guidance on digital library usage. The evaluation of the digital service application prototype by 3 experts, divided into three aspects, showed a high overall rating, with usability (x̅ = 4.08) scoring highest, followed by content (x̅ = 4.00) and application design (x̅ = 3.77).

The evaluation of digital service users, totaling 182 individuals, found that undergraduate students were the primary users, with 152 users (83.52% of total users), followed by faculty members (20 users, 10.99%), scientists (5 users, 2.75%), administrators (3 users, 1.65%), and both master’s and doctoral students (1 user each, 0.54%). Satisfaction analysis results revealed that user satisfaction among administrators was generally high (x̅ = 3.62). Faculty and scientist satisfaction with the digital service application was also high overall (x̅ = 4.32), while graduate and undergraduate students rated their satisfaction with the digital application as high overall (x̅ = 4.04).

การพัฒนาต้นแบบบริการดิจิทัลสำหรับห้องสมุดคณะสัตวแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยมหาสารคาม มีวัตถุประสงค์ 1) เพื่อศึกษาปัญหาและความต้องการการใช้บริการดิจิทัลสำหรับห้องสมุดคณะสัตวแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยมหาสารคาม 2) เพื่อพัฒนาต้นแบบบริการดิจิทัลสำหรับห้องสมุดคณะสัตวแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยมหาสารคาม โดยใช้แนวคิดการออกแบบบริการจากศูนย์สร้างสรรค์งานออกแบบ ซึ่งประกอบด้วยขั้นตอนหลัก ๆ ดังนี้ 1) การสำรวจและเก็บ 2) การสร้างแนวคิดงานบริการ 3) การทดสอบและการนำไปใช้งานจริง วิธีการดำเนินการวิจัย ผู้วิจัยแบ่งออกเป็น 2 ขั้นตอนตามวัตถุประสงค์ดังต่อไปนี้ ขั้นตอนที่ 1 เพื่อศึกษาปัญหาและความต้องการการใช้บริการดิจิทัลของห้องสมุดคณะสัตวแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยมหาสารคาม ขั้นตอนที่ 2 เพื่อพัฒนาการบริการดิจิทัลของห้องสมุดคณะสัตวแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยมหาสารคาม ดำเนินการ 3 ขั้นตอน ดังนี้ 2.1) การออกแบบบริการดิจิทัลของห้องสมุดคณะสัตวแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยมหาสารคาม 2.2) การพัฒนาต้นแบบบริการดิจิทัลของห้องสมุดคณะสัตวแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยมหาสารคาม 2.3) การประเมินต้นแบบบริการดิจิทัลของห้องสมุดคณะสัตวแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยมหาสารคาม กลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ใช้ในการวิจัย ได้แก่ ผู้บริหาร 5 คน อาจารย์ 20 คน นักวิทยาศาสตร์ 5 คน นิสิตปริญญาโท 1 คน นิสิตปริญญาเอก 1 คน และนิสิตปริญญาตรี 18 คน ผ่านการสัมภาษณ์และสนทนากลุ่ม ผลการวิจัยพบว่า การออกแบบบริการดิจิทัลสำหรับห้องสมุดคณะสัตวแพทยศาสตร์ โดยใช้แผนผังงานบริการได้ต้นแบบบริการที่ตรงกับความต้องการของผู้ใช้บริการ ดังนี้ บริการสืบค้นหนังสือ บริการฐานข้อมูล บริการยืมหนังสือออนไลน์ บริการแนะนำหนังสือและบทความออนไลน์ บริการให้คำปรึกษา และบริการแนะนำการเข้าใช้บริการดิจิทัลสำหรับห้องสมุดห้องสมุดคณะสัตวแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยมหาสารคาม ผลการประเมินแอพพลิเคชั่นบริการดิจิทัลสำหรับห้องสมุดคณะสัตวแพทยศาสตร์ จากผู้เชี่ยวชาญจำนวน 3 คน โดยแบ่งการประเมินออกเป็น 3 ด้าน โดยรวมอยู่ในระดับมาก พบว่า ด้านการใช้งาน (x̅ = 4.08) รองลงมาคือ ด้านเนื้อหาแอพพลิเคชั่น (x̅ = 4.00) และรองลงมาคือ ด้านการออกแบบแอพพลิเคชั่น (x̅ = 3.77) ผลการประเมินผู้ใช้บริการดิจิทัลสำหรับห้องสมุดคณะสัตวแพทยศาสตร์ รวมทั้งหมด 182 คน พบว่า นิสิตระดับปริญญาตรีเป็นกลุ่มที่ใช้บริการมากที่สุด จำนวน 152 คน คิดเป็นร้อยละ 83.52 ของผู้ใช้บริการทั้งหมด รองลงมาคือกลุ่มอาจารย์ จำนวน 20 คน คิดเป็นร้อยละ 10.99 และนักวิทยาศาสตร์ จำนวน 5 คน คิดเป็นร้อยละ 2.75 สำหรับกลุ่มผู้บริหารมี จำนวน 3 คน คิดเป็นร้อยละ 1.65 และนิสิตปริญญาโทและนิสิตปริญญาเอกมี จำนวนผู้ใช้บริการเท่ากันที่ 1 คน คิดเป็นร้อยละ 0.54 ผลประเมินความพึงพอใจของผู้ใช้บริการต่อบริการดิจิทัลสำหรับห้องสมุดคณะสัตวแพทยศาสตร์ จำแนกเป็นผลการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลของผู้บริหาร พบว่า โดยรวมอยู่ในระดับมาก (x̅ = 3.62) ผลประเมินความพึงพอใจของผู้ใช้บริการต่อบริการดิจิทัลสำหรับห้องสมุดคณะสัตวแพทยศาสตร์ จำแนกเป็นผลการวิเคราะห์อาจารย์และนักวิทยาศาสตร์ พบว่า แอพพลิเคชั่นบริการดิจิทัล โดยรวมอยู่ในระดับมาก (x̅ = 4.32) ผลประเมินความพึงพอใจของผู้ใช้บริการต่อบริการดิจิทัลสำหรับห้องสมุดคณะสัตวแพทยศาสตร์ จำแนกเป็นผลการวิเคราะห์นิสิตระดับบัณฑิตศึกษาและนิสิตปริญญาตรี พบว่า แอพพลิเคชั่นบริการดิจิทัล โดยรวมอยู่ในระดับมาก (x̅ = 4.04)
