The current status of Salar vocal folk music delves into the history and development of Salar vocal folk music, tracing its origins to Central Asia and Qinghai's Xunhua region during the Yuan Dynasty. It highlights the complex blend of Salar culture with local Tibetan, Hui, and Han communities, influenced by their Islamic faith, its growing popularity in China's world folk music scene, and the efforts to preserve it amidst changing environments, lifestyles, and tourism. 2. The characteristics of Salar vocal folk music are that it is a unique and captivating form of music, characterized by concise, structured lyrics and a rich tapestry of tones and melodic elements. The music's unique structure, tonal patterns, and melodic intricacies make it an integral part of Salar identity and heritage. 3. The preservation and transmission of Salar vocal folk music is facing challenges due to its adaptability to modern times, lack of young inheritors, government support, limited financial resources, and diminishing audience.
