Abstract: The purpose of this article is as follows: 1) To study the history and evolution of Naxi folk songs in Tacheng County, Lijiang City, Yunnan Province, China. 2) Understand the characteristics of Naxi folk songs and the specific reasons for their decline in Tacheng County, Lijiang City, Yunnan Province, China. 3) Explore new ways of inheriting Naxi folk songs. This study adopts qualitative research method. On-site interviews were conducted with key informants in the field and extensive data were collected. The collected data is then categorized. The results of this study show that: 1. The folk songs of the Naxi people in Tacheng Township, Yunnan Province are carriers that reflect the daily life of the Naxi people, important activities such as weddings, funerals, and sacrifices, and are the testimony and precipitation of national culture.  2. It is characterized by passionate and powerful singing with improvised lyrics, which reflects the Naxi people's pursuit of quality of life and showcases the unique cultural expression and regional characteristics of the Naxi people in Lijiang, Yunnan. 3. The inheritance of Naxi folk songs needs to be combined with modern music, and more young people need to join in and carry on the inheritance.
