Abstract: This research explores the mediating role of change management in the relationship between transformational leadership, organizational culture and performance, sellect village football teams in southern China as the research object. Through theoretical analysis and empirical research, this paper aims to reveal how transformational leadership influences organizational culture through change management, thereby improving team performance. This research used survey research. Data for the study is based on the data from 401 village football teams in southern China. The literature’s existing scales were used to operationalized the constructs proposed in this research. Based on responses to the questionnaire, this research applied the structural modeling technique to test the hypotheses. The market variable technique had been implemented to confirm the minimal risk of common method variance. Moreover, data were validated and passed the convergent and discriminant validity tests through various analyses. The results show that transformational leadership can promote positive transformation of organizational culture by developing and implementing effective change management strategies. Specifically, change management plays a key role in enhancing collaboration, adaptability and innovation among team members, leading to a degree of greater team cohesion and morale. The research found that this benign transformation was obviously reflected in the final performance, and the team's performance in the game was significantly improved. The case research of South China Village football team further verifies the mediating role of change management in connecting transformational leadership with organizational culture and performance. Through change management, the leader successfully guides the optimization of the team culture, and then promotes the overall performance of the team. This finding provides practical guidance and implications for village football teams and other similar organizations in dealing with change.
