Abstract: This dissertation aims to 1) To investigate the development of Guinan Caicha Xi in Guangxi, China. 2) To analyze the musical characteristics of Guinan Caicha Xi in Guangxi, China. 3) To propose the guideline of preservation and transmission of Guinan Caicha Xi in Guangxi, China. Used a qualitative research approach, including literature review, interviews, case studies, and fieldwork. The research involves three key informants, three general informants, and three casual informants. The findings are as follows: 1. The development of Guinan Caicha Xi. In the Early Period (1628-1912), driven by tea trade activities and traditional festivals, Guinan Caicha Xi evolved from Caicha Ge to Caicha Ge Wu. In the Development Period (1912-1949), with the incorporation of "Cha Cha," Caicha Ge Wu developed into Caicha Xiao Xi. In the Maturity Period (1949-2006), by absorbing Yue opera and other theatrical elements and performance conventions, Caicha Xiao Xi evolved into Caicha Da Xi. In the Innovation and Development Period (2006-2024), modern elements and technological means were integrated. 2. The musical characteristics of Guinan Caicha Xi.In terms of Melody, the Melodic Contour mostly exhibits a wave-like shape, with Stepwise Motion and Skipping Motion as the dominant intervals, supplemented by Leaps. In terms of Rhythm, Equal Rhythm Pattern, Dotted Rhythm Pattern, and Syncopated Rhythm Pattern are frequently used. In terms of Lyrics, rhyme and symmetry are emphasized, with seven-character and five-character sentence structures being the most common. 3. The guideline of preservation and transmission of Guinan Caicha Xi. Guidelines have been proposed in terms of actors, theater troupes, government, society and schools. These include stabilizing the team of actors, excavating and organizing digital preservation resources, formulating policies, integrating culture and tourism, and promoting opera in schools.
