Abstract: The dissertation is concerned with the study of the Life and works of Zhang Baoying. has the following objectives: 1) To investigate family life and educational background of Zhang Baoying. 2) To investigate working experience of Zhang Baoying. 3) To analyse singing technique of  Zhang Baoying. Using the theoretical methods of ethnomusicology, musicology, and sociology, the researcher investigated, analyzed, and described the data collected from a literature review and field work. The following research results related to the above research objectives were obtained: First,School of Yu Opera during a specific period. Through Zhang Baoying as an individual, we can observe the intricate relationships between folk music culture, social groups, and societal changes.Second, by analyzing and describing Zhang Baoying's working experience, it becomes evident that she could adapt to various types of works, including modern, traditional, and adapted works, each with its own representative classics. Zhang Baoying not only created numerous classic performances but also made tireless efforts to preserve and promote the Cui School of Yu Opera.Furthermore, in terms of vocal techniques, she built upon the foundation laid by her predecessors, integrating her own unique qualities to develop a distinctive singing style that has been widely loved by audiences.
