Abstract: This research applies methods from anthropological theory, musicology, ethnomusicology, historical musicology, and theater theory to explore the characteristics of Huangmei Opera. The study includes field research and interviews with renowned performer Ms. Long Baoling. The two primary objectives are: 1) to examine Ms. Long Baoling's life and work from 2020 to 2024, and 2) to analyze her singing techniques. From 2020 to 2024, Ms. Long Baoling has made significant contributions to the development of Huangmei Opera through her performances, teaching, and artistic innovations. She has preserved traditional techniques while introducing modern adaptations, ensuring the art form remains relevant. Her influence extends through mentoring young artists and expanding Huangmei Opera’s reach. Her vocal techniques including Breathing, True Voice, Chest Voice, Crying Tone, Vibrato, and Ornamentation enhance emotional expression and storytelling, preserving and evolving the art form. This study focuses on how Ms. Long Baoling's dedication to performance and mastery of these techniques has sustained and evolved Huangmei Opera, keeping it vibrant in the contemporary era.
