Developing English Listening Skill by Using TV Program for Mattayomsuksa III Students

Abstract

The purpose of this research aimed 1). To study the effectiveness of learning activities and developing English listening skills through television programs following the effective criteria of 70/70. 2). To study the effectiveness index of development of learning in English listening activities by using television programs with a concentration on Mathayomsuksa 3 students. 3). To compare students' proficiency in listening skills before and after input learning activities into the classroom. 4). To study of students' opinions on English listening skills via television programs. The sample of this research consisted of 28 Mathayomsuksa 3 students who are studying in the first semester of the academic year 2016 at Fadadsoongyangwittayakarn School, The Secondary Education Service Area Office 24, Kamalasai District, Kalasin Province. All participants were selected by Cluster Random Sampling. The tools used in the study includes a lesson plan which used 8 television programs for English listening comprehension and the 30 questions listening skills test that had the difficulty (p) from 0.34 – 0.67. The discrimination (B) was 0.33 – 0.72. The reliability of the questions was 0.81. The measurement of students' opinions on learning through television programs has discriminative ranged from 0.33 – 0.79, and the reliability were 0.86. The statistics used in the study included the mean, standard deviation and test statistics t-test (Dependent Sample).

The results of the study indicated that;

1. The performance of developing listening activities via television programs of Mathayomsuksa 3 students was 76.43/75.36 which met the criteria of 70/70.

2. The Effectiveness Index of learning activities for improving students listening skills by using television programs was 0.6042, which meant that students had more progressive learning in listening which accounted for 60.42 percent.

3. Students have an English listening test score higher than before using television programs which statistically significant at the .05 level.

4. The overall of Mathayomsuksa 3 students had a positive opinion of the TV shows as a whole in an average of 4.35. Learning listening skills through television shows makes learning English more fun and enjoyable.

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีความมุ่งหมายเพื่อ 1) ศึกษาประสิทธิภาพของกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้การพัฒนาทักษะการฟังภาษาอังกฤษโดยใช้รายการโทรทัศน์ ที่มีประสิทธิภาพตามเกณฑ์ 70/70 2) ศึกษาค่าดัชนีประสิทธิผลของกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้การพัฒนาทักษะการฟังภาษาอังกฤษโดยใช้รายการโทรทัศน์ ชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 3) เปรียบเทียบทักษะฟังภาษาอังกฤษระหว่างก่อนเรียนและหลังเรียน 4) ศึกษาความคิดเห็นของนักเรียนที่มีต่อการเรียนด้วยรายการโทรทัศน์ กลุ่มตัวอย่าง ได้แก่ นักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 3 ที่กำลังศึกษาอยู่ภาคเรียนที่ 1 ปีการศึกษา 2559 โรงเรียนฟ้าแดดสูงยางวิทยาคาร อำเภอกมลาไสย จังหวัดกาฬสินธุ์ สำนักงานเขตพื้นที่การศึกษามัธยมศึกษา เขต 24 จำนวน 28 คน ได้มาโดยวิธีการสุ่มแบบกลุ่ม (Cluster Random Sampling) เครื่องมือที่ใช้ใน การวิจัยได้แก่ แผนการจัดกิจกรรมเพื่อพัฒนาทักษะการฟังภาษาอังกฤษโดยใช้รายการโทรทัศน์ จำนวน 8 แผน แบบทดสอบทักษะการฟัง จำนวน 30 ข้อ มีค่าความยาก (p) ตั้งแต่ 0.34-0.67 มีค่าอำนาจจำแนกรายข้อ (B) ตั้งแต่ 0.33-0.72 และมีค่าความเชื่อมั่นทั้งฉบับเท่ากับ 0.81 และแบบวัดความคิดเห็นที่มีต่อการเรียนด้วยรายการโทรทัศน์ มีค่าอำนาจจำแนกตั้งแต่ 0.33-0.79 และความเชื่อมั่นทั้งฉบับเท่ากับ 0.86 สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิจัยได้แก่ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และสถิติทดสอบ t-test (Dependent Samples)

ผลการวิจัยปรากฏดังนี้

1. แผนการจัดกิจกรรมการพัฒนาทักษะการฟังภาษาอังกฤษโดยใช้รายการโทรทัศน์ของนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 3 มีประสิทธิภาพเท่ากับ 76.43/75.36 ซึ่งเป็นไปตามเกณฑ์ที่กำหนด 70/70

2. ค่าดัชนีประสิทธิผลของกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้การพัฒนาทักษะการฟังภาษาอังกฤษ โดยใช้รายการโทรทัศน์ของนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 3 มีค่าเท่ากับ 0.6042 หมายความว่านักเรียนมีความก้าวหน้าทางการเรียนรู้ด้านการฟังเพิ่มขึ้น คิดเป็นร้อยละ 60.42

3. นักเรียนมีคะแนนทดสอบทักษะการฟังภาษาอังกฤษ โดยใช้รายการโทรทัศน์หลังเรียนสูงกว่าก่อนเรียน อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05

4. นักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 3 มีความคิดเห็นต่อการเรียนด้วยรายการโทรทัศน์โดยรวมและเป็นรายข้ออยู่ในระดับเห็นด้วย มีค่าเฉลี่ย 4.35 เมื่อพิจารณาเป็นรายข้อพบว่าการเรียนรู้ด้วยรายการโทรทัศน์มีความหลากหลายของรายการโทรทัศน์ทำให้เกิดทักษะการฟัง และการเรียนรู้ผ่านรายการโทรทัศน์ทำให้การเรียนภาษาอังกฤษมีความสนุกสนานมากยิ่งขึ้น
