| Abstract: | The purpose of this study is: 1) to investigate the current status of the protection of Beiyue Temple murals, 2) to study the social and historical origins, cultural value and cultural characteristics of Beiyue Temple murals, and 3) to use digital technology to protect and spread cultural heritage (Beiyue Temple murals). This study is a qualitative study, which takes Beiyue Temple murals in Hebei Province as the research object. The research data was collected through relevant literature analysis, investigation, observation, interview, in-depth interview and group discussion. The research tools include survey method, observation method, interview method, structured and unstructured focus group discussion. The research tools include survey method, observation method, interview method, structured and unstructured focus group discussion. 30 relevant personnel were interviewed in this study, and the data were analyzed using relevant statistical theories. The research results are presented through text content analysis. The research results are as follows. First, the study of the historical and cultural origins, cultural value, artistic value, and religious communication of Beiyue Temple and murals will help enhance their cultural value and influence; secondly, the analysis of the current status of the protection of Beiyue Temple murals shows that modern traditional restoration and copying cannot meet the current status of inheritance and protection. Beiyue Temple murals are not well-known, difficult to spread, and have low recognition. The cultural and artistic value is not recognized by the public, which restricts the dissemination and protection of Beiyue Temple murals; then, digital murals are collected and digital media technology is combined with art to collect digital protection for preservation, and three-dimensional animation technology is used for the dissemination and protection of murals to solve the difficulties of dissemination.
Systematic research from sociology, semiotics, iconography, etc., and analysis of its internal connotation and current status are of practical significance to this study. The study of the digital preservation and dissemination model of murals can truly achieve the purpose of protecting and disseminating Beiyue Temple murals.
