| Abstract: | The research of this article is qualitative. It has four main objectives: (1) To study the history and development of Nanyang Dushan Jade. (2) To study the Typical Characteristics of the Nanyang Han Culture and Analyse its Influence on Dushan Jade Carving. (3) Analysis of data related to the Market, Consumer Behaviour and demand for Nanyang Dushan Jade. (4) Apply Nanyang Han Culture in the Design of Dushan Jade Carvings. The research employs a combination of field investigation, questionnaires, and interviews to conduct an in-depth analysis of the application of the typical characteristics of Nanyang Han culture in contemporary jade carving design. The interviewees include three experts in the field of jade carving art, two researchers of Nanyang Han culture, and five operators of Dushan jade carving shops. The study covers these groups' experience in jade carving, application technology, development direction, and innovative suggestions regarding Dushan jade, as well as their research on Nanyang Han culture. In addition to jade carving masters, the subjects of the survey research also include operators of jade shops, consumers of jade products, designers of jade carvings, workers in the Dushan jade mines, and others involved in related fields, ensuring the diversity and representativeness of the research data and providing strong support for the reliability of the study.
The research findings indicate: Firstly, regarding the historical development and artistic characteristics of Dushan Jade, from the simplicity of craftsmanship in the late Neolithic period to reaching the pinnacle of contemporary techniques, natural geographic conditions and socio-economic factors have had a profound impact on the development of Dushan Jade. Secondly, in the study of typical characteristics of Nanyang Han culture, the unique expression techniques and spacious composition styles of Han stone carving art have provided rich creative inspiration and subject selection for Dushan Jade carving. Thirdly, by applying SWOT analysis to field research on the Dushan Jade market and consumer demand analysis, it is evident that the jade carving industry faces serious product homogenization and a lack of personalized design under the current market environment. According to research on consumers' recognition of jade carvings, purchasing motives, and style preferences, development trends are studied to meet consumer needs. Finally, on the innovation front, the study finds that incorporating elements of Nanyang Han cultural symbols into Dushan Jade carving designs using principles of formal beauty can effectively adapt to contemporary aesthetics and market demands. Innovative applications can provide new development ideas for the Dushan Jade carving market. This research supports and validates innovative design in Dushan Jade carving through nine project proposals, gaining recognition from jade carving experts and target consumer groups. Such innovative designs not only enhance the physical and cultural value of jade pieces with lower utilization value but also offer new directions for the development of Dushan Jade carving designs. - |
