A Comparison of Problem-Solving Ability and Learning Achievement in Mathematics Among Mathayom 5 Students: KWDL Technique with Canva vs. Traditional Learning

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to 1) compare the academic achievement and problem-solving skills of Mathayom 5 students studying Basic Counting Principles in mathematics before and after receiving instruction through the KWDL learning technique integrated with the Canva application and the conventional learning management structure, 2) examine the academic performance and mathematical problem-solving skills of Mathayom 5 students when taught using the KWDL learning approach with the Canva application in comparison with conventional learning management methods, and 3) investigate the level of satisfaction of Mathayom 5 students with the KWDL learning method supported by the Canva application.The sample group consisted of 64 Mathayom 5 students from two classrooms at the Demonstration School of Mahasarakham University (Secondary Level), located in Kantharawichai District, Maha Sarakham Province. These students were selected through cluster random sampling during the second semester of the 2024 academic year. The research instruments included 1) instructional plans based on the KWDL learning technique combined with the Canva application and conventional instructional plans, 2) a mathematical problem-solving skills test, 3) an academic achievement test in mathematics, and 4) a satisfaction survey measuring student perceptions of both the traditional and KWDL learning approaches using the Canva application.The data were analyzed using percentage, mean, standard deviation, Paired Samples t-test, and Hotelling’s T2 test. The research findings indicated that 1) Mathayom 5 students who received instruction through the KWDL technique using the Canva application, along with consistent learning management, demonstrated significantly higher post-test scores in the topic of Basic Counting Principles compared to their pre-test scores at the 0.05 level of significance, 2) students who learned through the KWDL technique supported by the Canva application exhibited proficiency in fundamental counting concepts and were able to solve mathematical problems effectively, and 3) the students expressed a high level of satisfaction with the KWDL learning management approach delivered via the Canva application.

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีความมุ่งหมายเพื่อ 1) เพื่อเปรียบเทียบความสามารถในการแก้โจทย์ปัญหาทางคณิตศาสตร์และผลสัมฤทธิ์ทางการเรียนวิชาคณิตศาสตร์ เรื่องหลักการนับเบื้องต้น ของนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 5 ระหว่างก่อนเรียนและหลังเรียน ด้วยการจัดการเรียนรู้เทคนิค KWDL โดยใช้แอปพลิเคชัน Canva และการจัดการเรียนรู้แบบปกติ 2) เพื่อเปรียบเทียบความสามารถในการแก้โจทย์ปัญหาทางคณิตศาสตร์และผลสัมฤทธิ์ทางการเรียนวิชาคณิตศาสตร์ เรื่องหลักการนับเบื้องต้น ของนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 5 ระหว่างการจัดการเรียนรู้เทคนิค KWDL โดยใช้แอปพลิเคชัน Canva และการจัดการเรียนรู้แบบปกติ 3) เพื่อศึกษาความพึงพอใจของนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 5 ต่อการจัดการเรียนรู้เทคนิค KWDL โดยใช้แอปพลิเคชัน Canva กลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ใช้ในการวิจัยครั้งนี้ ได้แก่ นักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 5 โรงเรียนสาธิตมหาวิทยาลัยมหาสารคาม (ฝ่ายมัธยม) อำเภอกันทรวิชัย จังหวัดมหาสารคาม ภาคเรียนที่ 2 ปีการศึกษา 2567 จำนวน 64 คน จาก 2 ห้องเรียน ซึ่งได้มาโดยการสุ่มแบบกลุ่ม (Cluster Random Sampling) เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย 1) แผนการจัดการเรียนรู้เทคนิค KWDL โดยใช้แอปพลิเคชัน Canva และแผนการจัดการเรียนรู้แบบปกติ 2) แบบทดสอบความสามารถในการแก้โจทย์ปัญหาทางคณิตศาสตร์ 3) แบบทดสอบวัดผลสัมฤทธิ์ทางการเรียนวิชาคณิตศาสตร์ 4) แบบสอบถามความพึงพอใจต่อการจัดการเรียนรู้เทคนิค KWDL โดยใช้แอปพลิเคชัน Canva และแบบสอบถามความพึงพอใจต่อการจัดการเรียนรู้แบบปกติ สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ได้แก่ ร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และสถิติทดสอบสมมติฐานใช้สถิติ Paired Samples t-test และ Hotelling T2 ผลการวิจัยพบว่า 1) นักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 5 ที่ได้รับการจัดการเรียนรู้เทคนิค KWDL โดยใช้แอปพลิเคชัน Canva และการจัดการเรียนรู้แบบปกติ มีความสามารถในการแก้โจทย์ปัญหาทางคณิตศาสตร์และผลสัมฤทธิ์ทางการเรียนวิชาคณิตศาสตร์ เรื่องหลักการนับเบื้องต้น หลังเรียนสูงกว่าก่อนเรียนอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05 2) นักเรียนที่ได้รับการจัดการเรียนรู้เทคนิค KWDL โดยใช้แอปพลิเคชัน Canva มีความสามารถในการแก้โจทย์ปัญหาทางคณิตศาสตร์และผลสัมฤทธิ์ทางการเรียนวิชาคณิตศาสตร์ เรื่องหลักการนับเบื้องต้น สูงกว่านักเรียนที่ได้รับการจัดการเรียนรู้แบบปกติอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05 3) นักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 5 มีความพึงพอใจต่อการจัดการเรียนรู้ KWDL โดยใช้แอปพลิเคชัน Canva ในระดับมากที่สุด
