The Imagery of Belief and Faith

Abstract

This visual arts creation thesis, Imagery of Belief and Faithful,is intended to 1) study aboutthe faith in Buddhism and the belief of northeast people as a core value inspiration on making merit as a result of having an afterlife in the heaven and 2) to create the visual arts which ispainted through the symbolic shapes of Buddha’s relics, flags, and King of Nagaswhich are the symbols of Buddhism and the belief of northeast people by the color spotting technique on the white sheet to pass on the emotion of faith as a peaceful and diluted heaven atmosphere.The operation of field dataof this creation was collected fromthe environments inside temples which were shrines, religious’ ceremony, forms of Buddha’s relics, religion flags, and King of Nagas, documentary dataabout architectural buildings built for Buddha’s relics to rememberof respectfuland faithful goodness of Buddhism. Religion flag is a believedsymbol of making merit, kindness,auspiciousness and used as decoration in Buddhism ceremony. Northeast people believe that theseoffering thingswill fulfill their afterlife in the heaven. King of Nagas is a symbol of mightiness,faithful protector for Buddhism; moreover, it is a spiritual anchor among northeast people. And the influence from creative worksof ItipolPhathrachonm on idealism, ApichatSeangkrai on patterns, Camil Pissarro and BunnumSasud on techniques was also studied. The data analysis was clearly analyzed in order to theme, form, technique, and process through visual elements and visual principles to satisfy the concept and special charactersoffivemaster pieces.

The result of this study was found that observed environment around shrines and symbolicforms of Buddha’s relics, religion flags, and King of Nagas seen as a symbol of goodnesstogether with the inspiration from studying the meaning of symbolic forms to create this visual arts by using a color pointing technique on a white sheet togeneratethe overlapping of colors distributing the diluting atmosphere in peaceful heaven. The arts displaythe belief and faithof paradise in the northeast people. And this creation also brought about the new unique appearances.

วิทยานิพนธ์การสร้างสรรค์ผลงานทัศนศิลป์เรื่อง จินตภาพแห่งความเชื่อและความศรัทธามีความมุ่งหมายเพื่อศึกษาความศรัทธาในพุทธศาสนาและความเชื่อของคนอีสานในเรื่องของการสร้างบุญกุศลที่มีความเชื่อเรื่องการมุ่งไปสู่สรวงสวรรค์ พบสิ่งที่ดีงามเป็นแรงบันดาลใจ และเพื่อสร้างสรรค์ผลงานจิตรกรรมแสดงออกผ่านรูปทรงสัญลักษณ์ของพระธาตุ ธุง และพญานาค ซึ่งเป็นสัญลักษณ์ทางพุทธศาสนาและความเชื่อของคนอีสานโดยใช้เทคนิคจิตรกรรมบนผ้าขาว การจุดสี เพื่อให้เกิดความรู้สึกถึงความศรัทธาด้วยการสร้างบรรยากาศ เป็นดังสรวงสวรรค์ที่ดูเบาบางดูสงบ มีวิธีดำเนินการสร้างสรรค์โดยการรวบรวมข้อมูลจากสภาพแวดล้อม ได้แก่ บรรยากาศในพุทธาวาส งานบุญประเพณี รูปทรงของพระธาตุ ธุง พญานาคที่มีอยู่ภายในวัด จากสิ่งที่พบเห็นจึงได้ศึกษาข้อมูลจากเอกสารเกี่ยวกับรูปทรงสัญลักษณ์ที่ประกอบใช้ในผลงานได้แก่พระธาตุเป็นสถาปัตยกรรมสร้างขึ้นเพื่อน้อมรำลึกถึงคุณงามความดี ที่น่าเคารพนับถือ เป็นสิ่งที่เลื่อมใสศรัทธาในการสักการบูชาของผู้คน ธุงเป็นสัญลักษณ์ทางความเชื่อในการทำบุญเป็นสิ่งที่ประดับในงานบุญประเพณี เป็นสัญลักษณ์ของความดีงามเป็นสิริมงคลการได้ถวายธุงให้แก่วัดผู้นั้นได้ขึ้นสู่สรวงสวรรค์ตามความเชื่อของคนอีสาน พญานาคเป็นสัญลักษณ์แห่งความยิ่งใหญ่ คอยปกป้องรักษาและมีความศรัทธาในพุทธศาสนา เป็นสิ่งยึดเหนี่ยวจิตใจและความดีงามของคนอีสาน และได้รับอิทธิพลจากการสร้างสรรค์จากผลงานศิลปกรรมของอิทธิพล พัฒรชนม์ซึ่งให้อิทธิพลด้านแนวความคิดเรื่องของพุทธศาสนาผสมผสานกับความเชื่อวัฒนธรรมท้องถิ่นอภิชาติ แสงไกรให้อิทธิพลด้านรูปแบบ การจัดองค์ประกอบ และรูปทรงทางสัญลักษณ์ Camil Pissarro และบุญนำ สาสุดให้อิทธิพลด้านเทคนิค การใช้ทัศนธาตุของจุดในการสร้างบรรยากาศผลงานสร้างสรรค์ได้วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลเพื่อหาความชัดเจนของแนวเรื่อง รูปทรงสัญลักษณ์ และเทคนิคกลวิธี สร้างสรรค์โดยใช้ทัศนธาตุ วัสดุกลวิธีและหลักการทางทัศนศิลป์เพื่อตอบสนองแนวความคิด เป็นผลงานที่มีลักษณะเฉพาะตน จำนวน 5 ชิ้น

ผลการศึกษาพบว่าจากที่ได้พบเห็นสภาพแวดล้อมในพุทธาวาส และรูปทรงสัญลักษณ์ของพระธาตุ ธุง พญานาค ซึ่งเป็นสัญลักษณ์แห่งความดีงาม และได้ศึกษาความหมายของรูปทรงสัญลักษณ์จึงเกิดเป็นแรงบันดาลใจในการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานขึ้นโดยใช้เทคนิคจิตกรรมบนผ้าขาวด้วยการจุดสีให้เกิดการทับซ้อนผสานกันของสี โดยให้บรรยากาศเป็นดังสรวงสวรรค์ตามความเชื่อความศรัทธา ความบางเบานุ่มนวลและความสงบของบรรยากาศภายในผลงานจากการสร้างสรรค์ดังกล่าวก่อให้เกิดข้อค้นพบใหม่ที่มีลักษณะเฉพาะตน
