Guidelines for the development of the criteria for Pong Lang band contest

Abstract

The purposes of this qualitative research were these: 1. To study the background of the Pong Lang Band Contest, 2. To analyze the Pong Lang Contest, 3. To find the guidelines for the development of Pong Lang Band Contest criteria. Research instruments were a survey form, an observation form, and an in-depth interview form. Three research areas selected were the stages of Pong Lang Fon Lam Khan Band Contest, the stages of Pong Lang Band Contest in Student Arts and Crafts Competition, and the stages of Thailand Pong Lang Band Championship. Research data were collected from a document study and a field study according to the research purposes. The research data were collected and analyzed according to the research purposes. Research results revealed as follows:

1. The Pong Lang Band Contest started first in 1975 at Radio Station 909, Sakon NakhonProvince. At that time there were no contest criteria. Later in 1987,there was a Pong Lang Contest held in Kalasin Province with the creation of new contest criteria. The first time of the Pong Lang Contest was held in Arts and Crafts Competition in 1987. Later in 2006, the first time of Thailand Pong Lang Band Championship was held and the first time of Pong Lang Fon Lam Khan Band Contest was held in 2008.

2. The results of the analysis of the criteria for the three stages of the Pong Lang Band Contest revealed that the criteria for the Pong Lang Band Contest were changed each year and have a better development respectively. There were some years that the contest criteria were not changed. For the year that the criteria were changed, the changes include contest rules, scoring criteria, and various regulations related to the contest.

3. Time contest rules should be separated clearly such as a time for the installation of instruments, a show time, and a time to keep the instruments. A new song performing pattern must be composed and it has never been shown anywhere before. There must be a set of traditional folk songs to be played for conservation. Judging and scoring criteria are judged by grading using the principle of frequency values as well as giving reasons that why each band has a different order. The judges of the contest must be knowledgeable and capable of Isan folk music.

การวิจัยครั้งนี้เป็นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพมีความมุ่งหมายเพื่อ 1. เพื่อศึกษาประวัติการประกวดวงโปงลาง 2. เพื่อวิเคราะห์เกณฑ์การประกวดวงโปงลาง 3. เพื่อหาแนวทางการพัฒนาเกณฑ์การประกวดวงโปงลาง เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยได้แก่ แบบสำรวจ แบบสังเกต แบบสัมภาษณ์แบบเจาะลึก ซึ่งผู้วิจัยได้เลือกพื้นที่การวิจัยคือเวทีการประกวดวงโปงลาง 3 เวที ได้แก่ การประกวดวงโปงลางฟ้อนลำแคนคอนเทสต์ การประกวดวงโปงลางงานศิลปหัตถกรรมนักเรียน และการประกวดวงโปงลางชิงแชมป์ประเทศไทย โดยรวบรวมข้อมูลเอกสารและข้อมูลภาคสนาม ตามความมุ่งหมายของการวิจัย ทำการรวบรวมข้อมูลและทำการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลตามความมุ่งหมายที่ตั้งไว้ ผลการวิจัยพบว่า

1.การประกวดวงโปงลางมีขึ้นครั้งแรกเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2518 ที่สถานีวิทยุ 909 จังหวัดสกลนคร ซึ่งยังไม่มีเกณฑ์การประกวด ต่อมาในปี พ.ศ. 2530 มีการจัดประกวดวงโปงลางที่จังหวัดกาฬสินธุ์ โดยมีการสร้างเกณฑ์การประกวดขึ้นมาใหม่ ในปี พ.ศ. 2530 มีการประกวดวงโปงลางในงานศิลปะหัตกรรมเป็นครั้งแรก

ต่อมาในปี 2549 มีการประกวดวงโปงลางชิงแชมป์ประเทศไทยเป็นครั้งแรก และในปี พ.ศ. 2551 มีการจัดการประกวดฟ้อนลำแคนคอนเทสต์ขึ้นเป็นครั้งแรก

2. จากการวิเคราะห์เกณฑ์ การประกวดวงโปงลางทั้งสามสนาม พบว่า เกณฑ์การประกวดวงโปงลางมีการเปลี่ยนแปลงในแต่ละปี และมีการพัฒนาให้ดีขึ้นในตามลำดับ มีบางปีไม่มีการเปลี่ยนแปลงเกณฑ์การประกวด ส่วนปีที่มีการเปลี่ยนแปลงก็มีการเปลี่ยนแปลงในด้านต่างๆ ได้แก่กติกาการประกวด เกณฑ์การให้คะแนนและข้อบังคับต่างๆที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการประกวด

3.พบว่า กติกาการประกวดด้านเวลาการประกวด ควรมีการแยกเวลาในการตั้งเครื่อง เวลาในการแสดง และเวลาในการเก็บเครื่องดนตรี ออกจากกันอย่างชัดเจน และจะต้องกำหนดลายเพลงที่แต่งขึ้นใหม่โดยยังไม่เคยเผยแพร่จากที่ใดมาก่อน โดยต้องมีการกำหนดลายพื้นบ้านแบบดั้งเดิมเพื่อเป็นการอนุรักษ์ ด้านเกณฑ์การตัดสินและการให้คะแนน ให้มีการตัดสินโดยการจัดลำดับ โดยใช้หลักการเกี่ยวกับค่าความถี่ พร้อมให้เหตุผลว่าได้ลำดับต่าง ๆ เพราะเหตุใด และผู้ที่จะมาเป็นกรรมการการตัดสินการประกวดวงโปงลาง จะต้องเป็นผู้มีความรู้ ความสามารถและมีความเชี่ยวชาญในด้านดนตรีพื้นบ้านอีสาน
