The Process of Performing Production of Light and Sound, The Legend of Phra Vessntara Jataka, Roi Et Province

Abstract

The study of The Process of performing Production of Light and Sound, The Legend of Phra Vessantara Jataka, Roi Et Province aims to 1) explore historical backgrounds of the Bunphawed tradition, from which the light, color and sound display of Vessantara Jataka tale in the province was developed, and 2) explore production processes of performance and components of light, color and sound display for the said tale. This is a qualitative study focusing on documents and an interview. Tools for data collection include observation, interviewing with 3 resource persons on performances and tradition, 15 practitioners and 20 general people. Results of the research was presented by analytic description.

The results of the research indicated that the Bunphawed tradition or Bun Maha Chat referred to a big charity event reflecting strong faith in Buddhism which Roi Et people had held and practiced according to the province’s motto. The event began in B.E. 2534 (1991), and has been organized yearly since then. The development of light, color and sound display has occurred over time. Besides, the production processes of light, color and sound display of Vessantara Jataka in Roi Et province also modified each character’s performing patterns by increasing roles. Supporting characters and dancers’ roles also increased. Sound systems and lighting techniques were employed to attract audience’s attention. The performance of Vessantara Jataka tale has been developed by presentation of narratives and in-depth details of backgrounds, emotional expression of each character and real costumes for all principal and supporting characters throughout the 13 episodes of the tale.

The researcher is therefore interested in the production processes of light, color and sound display of Vessantara Jataka in Roi Et province which was changed from an ordinary stage performance to the various pattern one with grandeur and more interest according to the changing time. Also, it shows harmonious combination of culture and tradition of Roi Et people which enables us to realize aesthetics of culture and tradition of Roi Et people and those of northeastern Thailand alike.

การศึกษากระบวนการผลิตการแสดง แสง สี เสียง ตำนานพระเวสสันดรชาดกจังหวัดร้อยเอ็ด มีความมุ่งหมาย 1)ศึกษาประวัติความเป็นมาประเพณีบุญผะเหวด พัฒนาการแสดง แสง สี เสียงตำนานพระเวสสันดรชาดก จังหวัดร้อยเอ็ด 2)ศึกษากระบวนการผลิตการแสดง และองค์ประกอบการแสดงแสง สี เสียง ตำนานพระเวสสันดรชาดก จังหวัดร้อยเอ็ด เป็นวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพศึกษาจากเอกสารและการสัมภาษณ์โดยใช้เครื่องมือในการเก็บข้อมูล ได้แก่ แบบสังเกต แบบสัมภาษณ์ ผู้รู้ด้านการแสดงและประเพณี จำนวน 3 ท่าน ผู้ปฏิบัติ จำนวน 15 คน ประชาชนทั่วไป 20 คน และนำเสนอผลการวิจัยด้วยวิธีพรรณนาวิเคราะห์

ผลการวิจัยพบว่าความเป็นมาของประเพณีบุญผะเหวด หรือ บุญมหาชาติ คืองานมหากุศลที่สะท้อนให้เห็นถึงความศรัทธาอันแรงกล้าในพระพุทธศาสนา ซึ่งชาวจังหวัดร้อยเอ็ดได้ยึดถือและปฏิบัติตามประเพณีโดยสอดคล้องกับคำขวัญของจังหวัดร้อยเอ็ด เริ่มจัดงานเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2534 และได้จัดทำเป็นประจำทุกๆ ปี พัฒนาการการแสดงแสง สี เสียง ได้มีการปรับเปลี่ยนผ่านรูปแบบการแสดงไปตามยุคและสมัย นอกจากนี้กระบวนการผลิตการแสดง แสง สี เสียง ตำนานพระเวสสันดรชาดกจังหวัดร้อยเอ็ด มีกระบวนการผลิตรูปแบบการแสดง โดยปรับเปลี่ยนรูปแบบการแสดงของตัวละครให้มีบทบาทเพิ่มมากขึ้นจากเดิม อีกทั้งยังเพิ่มบทบาทในส่วนที่เป็นนักแสดงสมทบและนักแสดงในส่วนที่เป็นการฟ้อนรำ ทั้งนี้ยังได้นำระบบเสียง และเทคนิคการใช้แสงไฟต่าง ๆ เข้ามาเพื่อเพิ่มความหลากหลายให้อรรถรสในการรับชม การแสดงตำนานพระเวสสันดรชาดกได้พัฒนาต่อยอด โดยนำเสนอในรูปแบบเป็นเนื้อเรื่องและลงลึกในรายละเอียดทางด้านฉากพื้นหลัง ซึ่งมีการนำจอฉาย (LCD) ขนาดใหญ่มาเป็นฉาก อีกทั้งยังเพิ่มบทบาทการแสดงในลักษณะการแสดงท่าทาง การแสดงอารมณ์ของตัวละครนั้น ๆ รวมถึงการแต่งกายอย่างสมจริง ให้กับนักแสดงตัวหลักและนักแสดงสมทบดำเนินเรื่องตามโครงเรื่องเวสสันดรชาดกทั้ง 13 กัณฑ์

ดังนั้นผู้วิจัยจึงสนใจกระบวนการผลิตการแสดง แสง สี เสียง ตำนานพระเวสสันดรชาดก จังหวัดร้อยเอ็ด ซึ่งเป็นการปรับรูปแบบการแสดงจากละครธรรมดาประกอบฉาก ให้มีการแสดงหลากหลายรูปแบบและสร้างความอลังการยิ่งใหญ่และน่าสนใจมากยิ่งขึ้นเหมาะกับยุคสมัย อีกทั้งการผสมผสานที่สอดคล้องในด้านวัฒนธรรมจารีตประเพณีของชาวร้อยเอ็ดทำให้เห็นสุนทรียภาพของความเป็นวัฒนธรรมประเพณีของชาวอีสานและชาวจังหวัดร้อยเอ็ด
