The Development of English Reading Comprehension Ability of the8th Grade Students with KWL-Plus

Abstract

This research is action research aimed at developing the English reading comprehension ability of eight grade students by KWL-Plus to achieve a pass rate 70% of total scores. The target group were 36 students who studying in Mathayom 2/6 student of the academic year 2023, Amnat Charoen School. Data collection tools included assessment plans using KWL-Plus 3 plans, 3 hours in total hours and test of English reading comprehension ability, multiple choice, 3 practice cycles, 20 questions per cycle. Reflective tools for assessing the research outcomes included student behavior observation form and interview form. Statistics were used for the data analysis consisted of percentage, mean, and standard deviation scores. The study outcomes showed that Students had an average score of 15.09 points out of 20 points, accounting for 75.46% of the full score and there were 29 students who passed the criteria out of 32 students, accounting for 90 percent of all students. Its average score is higher than the standard. Most students have improved their English reading comprehension ability, can answer their reading questions and summarize the main idea from the story.

การวิจัยครั้งนี้เป็นวิจัยเชิงปฏิบัติการโดยมีความมุ่งหมาย เพื่อพัฒนาความสามารถในการอ่านภาษาอังกฤษเพื่อความเข้าใจของนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 2 ด้วยการจัดการเรียนรู้แบบ KWL-Plus ให้มีคะแนนผ่านเกณฑ์ร้อยละ 70 ของ คะแนนเต็ม กลุ่มเป้าหมาย คือ นักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 2/6 ปีการศึกษา 2566 โรงเรียนอำนาจเจริญ จำนวน 36 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูล แบ่งออกเป็น เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการประเมินผลการปฏิบัติการวิจัย ได้แก่ แผนการจัดการเรียนรู้โดยใช้รูปแบบการจัดการเรียนรู้แบบ KWL-Plus จำนวน 3 แผน ๆ ละ 3 ชั่วโมง ใช้เวลาทั้งหมด 9 ชั่วโมง แบบทดสอบความสามารถในการอ่านภาษาอังกฤษเพื่อความเข้าใจ แบบปรนัย 3 วงจรปฏิบัติการ วงจรละ 20 ข้อ เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการสะท้อนผลการปฏิบัติการวิจัย ได้แก่ แบบสังเกตพฤติกรรมผู้เรียนและแบบสัมภาษณ์ สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ได้แก่ ร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย และส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน ผลการวิจัยพบว่า นักเรียนมีคะแนนเฉลี่ย เท่ากับ 15.09 คะแนน จากคะแนนเต็ม 20 คะแนน คิดเป็นร้อยละ 75.46 ของคะแนนเต็ม และมีจำนวนนักเรียนที่ผ่านเกณฑ์ทั้งหมด 29 คน จากนักเรียนทั้งหมด 32 คน คิดเป็นร้อยละ 90 ของนักเรียนทั้งหมด ซึ่งคะแนนเฉลี่ยสูงกว่าเกณฑ์ที่กำหนดไว้ นักเรียนส่วนใหญ่มีพัฒนาการด้านการอ่านภาษาอังกฤษเพื่อความเข้าใจ สามารถตอบคำถามจากเรื่องที่อ่าน สรุปใจความสำคัญจากเรื่องที่อ่านได้อย่างถูกต้อง
