Poverty Discourse in Luk Thung Isan song of Sala Khunnawut

Abstract

This research examines Poverty Discourse in Luk Thung Isan song of Sala Khunnawut. The study analyzed Northeastern Thai folk songs from the website www.youtube.com, spanning from 1982 B.E., the year Sala Khunnawut first entered the music industry, until March 30, 2024 B.E. The corpus comprised linguistic constructions employed in language practices that convey meanings related to financial constraints, lack of money, hardship, distress, and economic instability, totaling 122 songs. This research aimed to analyze Poverty Discourse in Luk Thung Isan song of Sala Khunnawut and the linguistic strategies employed in these compositions, utilizing Michel Foucault's discourse theory and the concept of linguistic strategies as the analytical framework.

The research findings revealed that the discourse of monetary poverty was most prevalent. The poverty discourse encompasses several dimensions: poverty as social disadvantage and status inequality, poverty as struggle and displacement, poverty as the molding of beliefs and faith, and poverty as a social stratification mechanism. The study also reflected various ideologies, including ruralism ideology, working-class ideology, ideology of true love and loyalty, patriarchal ideology and masculine roles, ideology of sacrifice and endurance, familism and gratitude ideology, and ideology concerning fate and destiny. This study illuminates the social reflection of poverty discourse across social, economic, cultural, religious, and gender dimensions, revealing both positive and negative aspects with remarkable clarity.

งานวิจัยนี้เป็นการศึกษาวาทกรรมจนในบทเพลงลูกทุ่งอีสานที่ประพันธ์โดยสลา คุณวุฒิ โดยศึกษาบทเพลงลูกทุ่งอีสานจากเว็บไซต์ www.youtube.com ตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ. 2525 ซึ่งเป็นปีที่สลา คุณวุฒิเข้าสู่วงการเพลงเป็นครั้งแรก จนถึงวันที่ 30 มีนาคม 2567 ที่มีชุดภาษาที่ประกอบสร้างขึ้นมาในการปฏิบัติการทางภาษาที่สื่อความหมายถึงความอัตคัดคัดสนด้านรายได้ การไม่มีเงิน ความยากลำบาก ความเข็ญใจ ตลอดจนความไม่คล่องตัวทางสถานะทางการเงิน จำนวนทั้งสิ้น 122เพลง งานวิจัยนี้มีจุดมุ่งหมายเพื่อวิเคราะห์วาทกรรมความยากจนในบทเพลงลูกทุ่งอีสานที่ประพันธ์โดย สลา คุณวุฒิและกลวิธีทางภาษาในบทเพลงลูกทุ่งอีสานที่ประพันธ์โดย สลา คุณวุฒิ โดยใช้ทฤษฎีวาทกรรมของ มิเชล ฟูโกต์ (Michel Foucault) และแนวคิดกลวิธีทางภาษาในการศึกษา

ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ปรากฏวาทกรรมความจน ได้แก่ ความจน คือ การด้อยโอกาสและสถานะทางสังคม, ความจน คือ การดิ้นรนและการพลัดพราก, ความจน คือ การหล่อหลอม ความเชื่อและความศรัทธา และความจน คือ เครื่องมือคัดคน และสะท้อนอุดมการณ์ ประกอบด้วย อุดมการณ์ชนบทนิยม อุดมการณ์ชนชั้นแรงงาน อุดมการณ์รักแท้และความซื่อสัตย์อุดมการณ์ชายเป็นใหญ่และหน้าที่ของผู้ชาย อุดมการณ์ความเสียสละและความอดทนอดกลั้นอุดมการณ์ครอบครัวนิยมและความกตัญญู และอุดมการณ์เรื่องวาสนาและโชคชะตาการศึกษาครั้งนี้ทำให้เห็นการสะท้อนภาพสังคมของวาทกรรมความยากจนทั้งด้านสังคม เศรษฐกิจ วัฒนธรรม ความเชื่อ เพศ ทั้งทางบวกและทางลบอย่างชัดเจน
