Construction of​ a​ Chromatic​ Khaen Mouth​ Organ​

Abstract

This research, the construction of a chromatic khaen mouth organ, was a qualitative research, aiming at: its construction and its handbook. Musicology and ethnomusicology were used in field works. Data were collected for a chromatic khaen construction. The chromatic khaen contained 12 semitones; its physical appearance is not different from the traditional one, except it has more pipes and slightly wider. It has eleven pipes of two rows, right and left.

In terms of writing the handbook for the chromatic khaen, the author set its content into 3 sections---history of chromatic khaen, diatonic khaen lessons, and chromatic khaen lessons. The lessons or exercises begin from easy to more difficult with 11 steps as follow:

1) khaen history and its development; holding, playing postures, mouth position, hand positions, and fingering system; 3) notation reading; 4) diatonic fingering exercises; 5) exercise on diatonic modes; 7) chromatic fingering exercises; 8) exercises on chromatic modes; 8) octave exercises; melodies and accompanying exercises; 9) harmonies and chord progression exercises in difference keys; and 11) soloing and accompanying on chromatic khaen

การวิจัยเรื่องการสร้างแคนระบบโครมาติก (Construction of a Chromatic Khaen Mouth Organ ) ครั้งนี้ เป็นงานวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อสร้างแคนระบบเสียงโครมาติกและสร้างคู่มือการใช้แคนระบบเสียงโครมาติก โดยใช้วิธีการทางดนตรีวิทยา ลงพื้นที่วิจัยภาคสนาม เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูล แล้วนำมาทดลองสร้างแคนและพัฒนาจนได้แคนระบบเสียงโครมาติกที่สามารถบรรเลงเสียงได้ครบ 12 ครึ่งเสียง (Semitone) แคนระบบเสียงโครมาติก มีโครงสร้างทางกายภาพ และมีรูปร่างหรือลักษณะเหมือนแคนดั้งเดิม แต่จะมีขนาดและน้ำหนักมากขึ้น ประกอบด้วยลูกแคน (ไม้กู่แคน) 22 ลูก จัดเรียงเข้าอยู่ในเต้าเป็น 2 แพ ซ้ายขวา แพละ 11 ลูก มีระบบเสียงและการวางนิ้วแตกต่างไปจากแคนดั้งเดิม

การสร้างคู่มือการใช้แคนระบบเสียงโครมาติก ผู้วิจัยออกแบบเนื้อหาออกเป็น 3 ส่วนหลัก คือ ประวัติความเป็นมาของแคนระบบเสียงโครมาติก บทฝึกระบบเสียงแบบไดอาโทนิค (Diatonic) และบทฝึกระบบแบบโครมาติก (Chromatic) โดยเรียบเรียงเนื้อหาการปฏิบัติให้เป็นลำดับขั้นตอนจากง่ายไปหายาก มีทั้งหมด 11 ขั้นตอน คือ

1) ประวัติความเป็นมาและวิวัฒนาการของแคน 2) ท่าทางในการเป่า ท่าจับแคน การวางปาก การวางมือ การวางนิ้ว 3) การอ่านโน้ตสากล 4) การฝึกไล่นิ้วในกลุ่มเสียงแบบไดอาโทนิก 5) การฝึกเป่าบทเพลงกลุ่มเสียงแบบไดอาโทนิก 6) การฝึกไล่นิ้วในกลุ่มเสียงแบบโครมาติก 7) การฝึกเป่าบทเพลงกลุ่มโน้ตเสียงแบบโครมาติก 8) การเป่าแบบใช้เสียงคู่ 8 (Octave) 9) การเป่าทำนองและการสอดประสาน (Melody and Accompaniment) 10) การเป่าทำนองและการสอดประสานทางเดินคอร์ด (Chord progression) ในบันไดเสียงต่าง ๆ 11) บทบรรเลงเดี่ยวและการสอดประสานเสียงแคนระบบเสียงโครมาติก
