The Development of Mathematics Learning Activities using KWDL Technique to Promote Mathematical Problem Solving Abilities and Learning Achievement on Percentage Word Problem of Prathomsuksa 6 Students

Abstract

The objectives of the study were (1) to develop mathematics learning activities using the KWDL technique for percentage lessons of Prathomsuksa 6 (Grade 6) students to meet an efficiency of 75/75, (2) to examine an effectiveness index of the lesson plans under the developed learning activities through the KWDL technique, (3) to compare the learning achievements on the percentage word problem between students who attended a KWDL technique-managed classroom and an ordinary classroom, and (4) to compare mathematical problem solving abilities of the percentage word problem between the two groups of the students. The samples were 35 students (class 6/1 as the KWDL technique-managed classroom) and 35 students (class 6/4 as the ordinary classroom) of grade 6 at Watsratong Municipal School under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 27 located at Muang Roi Et District, Roi Et Province. The samples were drawn through cluster random sampling. The instruments for data collection included (1) lesson plans under the developed learning activities through the KWDL technique, (2) ordinary lesson plans, (3) a learning achievement test, and (4) a mathematical problem solving ability test.

The results of the study were as follows:

1. The lesson plans under the developed learning activities through the KWDL technique to promote mathematical problem solving abilities and learning achievement on percentage word problem of Prathomsuksa 6 students had an efficiency of 80.78/80.14. Likewise, the ordinary lesson plans on percentage word problems of Prathomsuksa 6 students had an efficiency of 78.98/75.71. These efficiencies met the preset criterion.

2. The effectiveness index of the lesson plans under the developed learning activities through the KWDL technique to promote mathematical problem solving abilities and learning achievement on percentage word problem of Prathomsuksa 6 students was 0.5638 (56.38 %) whereas the effectiveness index of the ordinary lesson plans was 0.5014 (50.14 %).

3. The students attending the KWDL technique-managed classroom had higher post-learning achievements on percentage word problems than their counterparts at a statistically significant level of .05.

4. Similarly, the students attending the KWDL technique-managed classroom had higher post-mathematical problem solving abilities than their counterparts at a statistically significant level of .05.

การศึกษาครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ (1) เพื่อพัฒนากิจกรรมการเรียนรู้คณิตศาสตร์โดยใช้เทคนิค KWDL เรื่อง โจทย์ปัญหาร้อยละของนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 6 และนักเรียนที่ได้รับการจัดการเรียนรู้แบบปกติให้มีประสิทธิภาพตามเกณฑ์ 75/75 (2) เพื่อศึกษาดัชนีประสิทธิผลของแผนการจัดการเรียนรู้คณิตศาสตร์โดยใช้เทคนิค KWDL เรื่องโจทย์ปัญหาร้อยละของนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 6 และนักเรียนที่ได้รับการจัดการเรียนรู้แบบปกติ (3) เพื่อเปรียบเทียบผลสัมฤทธิ์ทางการเรียนคณิตศาสตร์เรื่องโจทย์ปัญหาร้อยละของนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 6 ที่เรียนด้วยกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้โดยใช้เทคนิค KWDL กับกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้แบบปกติ และ (4) เพื่อเปรียบเทียบความสามารถในการแก้ปัญหาทางคณิตศาสตร์ เรื่อง โจทย์ปัญหาร้อยละ ของนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 6 ที่เรียนด้วยกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้โดยใช้เทคนิค KWDL กับกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้แบบปกติ กลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ใช้ในการศึกษาครั้งนี้เป็นนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 6/1 จำนวน 35 คน และนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 6/4 จำนวน 35 คน ภาคเรียนที่ 2 ปีการศึกษา 2561 โรงเรียนเทศบาลวัดสระทอง อำเภอเมืองร้อยเอ็ด จังหวัดร้อยเอ็ด สำนักงานเขตพื้นที่การศึกษามัธยมศึกษา เขต 27 ซึ่งได้มาจากการสุ่มแบบกลุ่ม (Cluster random sampling) เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการศึกษาค้นคว้า ได้แก่ แผนการจัดกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้วิชาคณิตศาสตร์โดยใช้เทคนิค KWDL แผนการจัดการเรียนรู้แบบปกติ แบบทดสอบวัดผลสัมฤทธิ์ทางการเรียน และแบบทดสอบวัดความสามารถในการแก้ปัญหาทางคณิตศาสตร์

ผลการศึกษาค้นคว้าปรากฏดังนี้

1. แผนการจัดกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้วิชาคณิตศาสตร์โดยใช้เทคนิค KWDL เพื่อส่งเสริมความสามารถในการแก้ปัญหาทางคณิตศาสตร์และพัฒนาผลสัมฤทธิ์ทางการเรียน เรื่อง โจทย์ปัญหาร้อยละ ของนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 6 มีประสิทธิภาพ เท่ากับ 80.78 /80.14 และแผนการจัดกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้แบบปกติ เรื่อง โจทย์ปัญหาร้อยละ ของนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 6 มีประสิทธิภาพ เท่ากับ 78.98/75.71 ซึ่งเป็นไปตามเกณฑ์ที่ตั้งไว้

2. ดัชนีประสิทธิผลของแผนการจัดกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้โดยใช้เทคนิค KWDL เพื่อส่งเสริมความสามารถในการแก้ปัญหาทางคณิตศาสตร์และพัฒนาผลสัมฤทธิ์ทางการเรียน เรื่อง โจทย์ปัญหาร้อยละ ของนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 6 มีค่าเท่ากับ 0.5638 คิดเป็นร้อยละ 56.38 และ แผนการจัดกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้แบบปกติ มีค่าเท่ากับ 0.5014 คิดเป็นร้อยละ 50.14

3. นักเรียนที่ได้รับการจัดการเรียนรู้โดยใช้เทคนิค KWDL มีผลสัมฤทธิ์ทางการเรียนคณิตศาสตร์ เรื่อง โจทย์ปัญหาร้อยละ สูงกว่านักเรียนที่ได้รับการเรียนรู้แบบปกติ อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05

4. ความสามารถในการแก้ปัญหาทางคณิตศาสตร์ของนักเรียนที่ได้รับการจัดการเรียนรู้โดยใช้เทคนิค KWDL สูงกว่านักเรียนที่ได้รับการเรียนรู้แบบปกติ อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05
