Playing and Teaching Violin for Thai Song : A Case study of Kovit Kantasiri.

Abstract

This research aims to 1) study the technics of violin playing of Kovit Kantasiri; 2) to study violin teaching methods of Kovit Kantasiri by using a qualitative research method. Data were collected from Mr. Kovit Kantasiri and his students who have learned the violin in Thai songs. The example songs have been chosen from music for relaxation album consisting of six songs: Lao-duangduan, Lao-kratobmhai, Khame-saiyok, Mon-mobrue, Khael-toimor and Khaek-mon-bangkhunprom. The reults are following.

1) Playing violin techniques of Kovit Kantasiri in Thai song are the applying of his own skill in Thai classical music, which is so-duang (a treble fiddle) for playing the violin. He can use the performance techniques of so-duang for violin based on his experiences and familiarities with Thai musical style. The techniques consist of see-saeuk, bhrom-nhew, nhew-phra, rhude-nhew, nhew-ae, and sabud-nhew techniques. However, the performance method is slightly different depending on the performance of so-duang and violin.

2. The learner who is learned and trained by Mr. Kovit Kantasiri must have fundamental knowledge and skill about performing violin and knowledge about Thai songs before start practicing violin in Thai style. The instruction is based on the explanation and demonstration by the way of illustration. Before practicing of some techniques, he will let the learners perform Thai song in the first seven bars. After that, he will instruct the phradub-note technique to decorate the tone of a solo. The learners will be let to practice as the same time. However, for the complicated technique, the learners are allowed to take back the video instruction for self-practicing.

Conclusion, this research subjects to the guiding knowledge for inheriting and developing the Thai performance that is using violin for one who is interested. This is the way to carry on the Thai art and culture for the youth to learn and share knowledge.

การวิจัยเรื่องนี้มีจุดมุ่งหมายเพื่อ 1) ศึกษาเทคนิคการบรรเลงไวโอลินสำหรับเพลงไทยของ โกวิทย์ ขันธศิริ 2) ศึกษาวิธีการสอนการบรรเลงไวโอลินสำหรับเพลงไทยของ โกวิทย์ ขันธศิริ โดยใช้ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ บุคคลผู้ให้ข้อมูล คือ รศ.ดร.โกวิทย์ ขันธศิริ และนักเรียนที่เรียนไวโอลินเพลงไทย ด้านบทเพลงตัวอย่างเลือกศึกษาเพลงจากอัลบั้ม Music for Relaxation จำนวน 6 เพลง ประกอบด้วย เพลงลาวดวงเดือน เพลงลาวกระทบไม้ เพลงเขมรไทรโยค เพลงมอญมอบเรือ เพลงแขกต่อยหม้อ และเพลงแขกมอญบางขุนพรม ผลการวิจัยพบว่า

1. เทคนิคการบรรเลงไวโอลินสำหรับเพลงไทยของ โกวิทย์ ขันธศิริ เป็นการนำองค์ความรู้เดิมจากการบรรเลงซอด้วง โดยนำเอาเทคนิคต่าง ๆ จากการบรรเลงซอด้วงมาประยุกต์ใช้กับการบรรเลงไวโอลินซึ่งเป็นเครื่องดนตรีที่กำเนิดเสียงโดยการสีเช่นเดียวกัน การใช้เทคนิคต่าง ๆ ของซอด้วงมาบรรเลงในไวโอลินนั้นจะต้องอาศัยประสบการณ์ความคุ้นชินกับสำเนียงแบบเพลงไทยเพื่อให้สื่อถึงสำเนียงไทยได้อย่างชัดเจน เทคนิคที่ใช้ ได้แก่ เทคนิคการสีสะอึก เทคนิคการพรมนิ้ว เทคนิคนิ้วประ เทคนิคการรูดนิ้ว เทคนิคนิ้วแอ้ และเทคนิคการสะบัดนิ้ว ซึ่งวิธีการบรรเลงจะแตกต่างกันเล็กน้อยตามลักษณะของการบรรเลงซอด้วงและไวโอลิน

2. วิธีการสอนการบรรเลงไวโอลินสำหรับเพลงไทยของ โกวิทย์ ขันธศิริ พบว่า ผู้ที่จะเรียนไวโอลินเพลงไทยจะต้องมีความรู้ความเข้าใจเกี่ยวกับการบรรเลงไวโอลินและความรู้เรื่องเพลงไทยในระดับหนึ่งเสียก่อนจึงจะสามารถฝึกไวโอลินสำเนียงไทยได้ การสอนจะใช้วิธีการอธิบายและสาธิตพร้อมยกตัวอย่าง ก่อนที่จะเข้าสู่การฝึกเทคนิคต่าง ๆ จะให้ผู้เรียนเล่นไวโอลินเพลงไทยทางหมู่ในโน้ต 7 ห้องแรก จากนั้นจะสอนให้ใช้เทคนิคการประดับโน้ตให้เกิดความสวยงามในลักษณะของการเดี่ยวไวโอลิน ทั้งนี้จะให้ผู้เรียนฝึกปฏิบัติไปพร้อม ๆ กัน นอกจากนี้หากเทคนิคที่มีความยุ่งยากจะให้ผู้เรียนบันทึกวีดีโอและนำไปศึกษาฝึกฝนด้วยตนเอง

โดยสรุป การศึกษาเรื่องการบรรเลงและการสอนไวโอลินสำหรับเพลงไทยของ โกวิทย์ ขันธศิริ ทำให้เกิดองค์ความรู้ที่จะเป็นแนวทางเพื่อสืบทอดและพัฒนาการบรรเลงเพลงไทยโดยใช้ไวโอลิน ให้กับผู้ที่มีความสนใจ เป็นการสืบสานศิลปวัฒนธรรมไทยให้กับเยาวชน ได้เรียนรู้สืบสาน และพัฒนาสืบไป
