Ecological Narratives and Construction of Cultural Landscape in BuengKan Province

Abstract

This research thesis has two main aims: 1) to analyze the content of ecological narratives in different types that exist in the perceptions of people in BuengKan community, and 2) to analyze the use of ecological narratives, which have a significant role in constructing the meaning of cultural landscape in the community of BuengKan Province. This research employed folklore and anthropology research methodology. Furthermore, the information of this study is the traditional narrative stories obtained from interviews with the experts and community key informants by applying the conceptual framework of cultural landscape tales and the role of folklore as a guideline for analysis.

The research results from data collection on ecological narratives in the community area of BuengKan Province enable the understanding of ecological narratives in various types, which exist in people's perception of this community. Ecological narratives divided into four groups, such as descriptive settlement tales, descriptive way of life tales, descriptive supernatural tales, and descriptive tradition, and ritual tales. The characteristics of these narrated tales' content demonstrated concepts of the physical environment of different areas in BuengKan Province. It is a landscape that is closely related to people's way of life and culture. Beneath the picture of relationships between environment and people's way of life and culture in the community area of BuengKan Province indicates that the use of ecological narratives plays an essential role in constructing meaning in the cultural landscape. The transformation of natural areas into cultural areas can be divided into 4 points, such as alternative settlement cultural landscape, the respect of traditional belief cultural landscape, traditional Buddhist cultural landscape, and promoting community tourism cultural landscape. Lastly, the importance of ecological narratives that have passed down shows an exciting role and function of ecological narratives, which used to reflect the way of thinking, worldview, values, and way of life of relationships between people with nature and the environment in the Northeast Mekong river community.

วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้ มีความมุ่งหมายของการวิจัย 2 ประการ คือ 1) เพื่อวิเคราะห์เนื้อหาเรื่องเล่าเชิงนิเวศประเภทต่าง ๆ ที่มีปรากฏอยู่ในการรับรู้ของผู้คนในชุมชนจังหวัดบึงกาฬ และ 2) เพื่อวิเคราะห์การใช้เรื่องเล่าเชิงนิเวศที่มีบทบาทสำคัญต่อการสร้างความหมายเกี่ยวกับภูมิทัศน์ทางวัฒนธรรมในชุมชนจังหวัดบึงกาฬ การวิจัยครั้งนี้ใช้ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยทางคติชนวิทยาและมานุษยวิทยา ข้อมูลที่นำมาศึกษาเป็นเรื่องราวที่ปรากฏอยู่ในประเพณีการบอกเล่าที่ได้จากการสัมภาษณ์ปราชญ์และผู้รู้ในชุมชนแห่งนี้ โดยประยุกต์ใช้กรอบแนวคิดเกี่ยวกับเรื่องเล่า ภูมิทัศน์วัฒนธรรม และบทบาทหน้าที่ทางคติชนวิทยามาเป็นแนวทางในการวิเคราะห์

ผลการวิจัยพบว่า จากการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลเรื่องเล่าเชิงนิเวศในพื้นที่ชุมชนต่าง ๆ ของจังหวัดบึงกาฬ สามารถแยกพิจารณาให้เห็นลักษณะเนื้อหาเรื่องเล่าเชิงนิเวศประเภทต่าง ๆ ที่มีปรากฏอยู่ในการรับรู้ของผู้คนในชุมชนแห่งนี้ ออกได้เป็น 4 กลุ่ม คือ เรื่องเล่าที่อธิบายเกี่ยวกับพื้นที่การตั้งถิ่นฐาน เรื่องเล่าที่อธิบายเกี่ยวกับพื้นที่วิถีการดำรงชีวิต เรื่องเล่าที่อธิบายเกี่ยวกับพื้นที่สิ่งเหนือธรรมชาติ และเรื่องเล่าที่อธิบายเกี่ยวกับพื้นที่ประเพณีพิธีกรรม ลักษณะเนื้อหาของเรื่องเล่าเหล่านี้นอกจากจะอธิบายให้เห็นเกี่ยวกับสภาพแวดล้อมทางกายภาพของพื้นที่ต่าง ๆ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นภูเขา ป่าไม้ ท้องทุ่ง รวมถึงแหล่งน้ำ อันเป็นภูมิทัศน์ที่มีความเกี่ยวข้องสัมพันธ์กับวิถีชีวิตวัฒนธรรมของผู้คนแล้ว ภายใต้ภาพความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างสภาพแวดล้อมและวิถีชีวิตวัฒนธรรมของผู้คนในพื้นที่ชุมชนจังหวัดบึงกาฬแห่งนี้ ยังแสดงให้เห็นการใช้เรื่องเล่าเชิงนิเวศที่มีบทบาทสำคัญต่อการสร้างความหมายเกี่ยวกับภูมิทัศน์ทางวัฒนธรรม ในลักษณะของการปรับเปลี่ยนพื้นที่ทางธรรมชาติให้กลายเป็นพื้นที่ทางวัฒนธรรม ซึ่งสามารถแบ่งออกได้เป็น 4 ประเด็น คือ ภูมิทัศน์วัฒนธรรมด้านการเลือกที่ตั้งถิ่นฐาน ภูมิทัศน์วัฒนธรรมด้านการนับถือความเชื่อดั้งเดิม ภูมิทัศน์วัฒนธรรมด้านการนับถือพุทธศาสนาพื้นบ้าน และภูมิทัศน์วัฒนธรรมด้านการส่งเสริมการท่องเที่ยวชุมชน ความสำคัญของเรื่องเล่าเชิงนิเวศที่ได้บอกเล่าสืบทอดต่อกันมา แสดงให้เห็นบทบาทหน้าที่ของเรื่องเล่าทางคติชนวิทยาที่สามารถใช้เป็นเครื่องสะท้อนวิธีคิด โลกทัศน์ ค่านิยม และวิถีชีวิตความผูกพันระหว่างผู้คนกับธรรมชาติและสิ่งแวดล้อมในชุมชนอีสานลุ่มน้ำโขงแห่งนี้ได้อย่างน่าสนใจ
