Romantic Discourse in Contemporary Luk Thung Isan Music

Abstract

The present study investigated romantic discourse in contemporary Luk Thung Isan music. Data were collected from www.YouTube.com from January to December 2018. Songs from 20 channels with a minimum of one million views were selected. This research aims to analyze romantic discourse and linguistic strategies in contemporary Luk Thung Isan music, particularly what and how linguistic strategies are used to present romantic discourse.

The discourse analysis of contemporary Luk Thung Isan music revealed that love defined as a sexual relationship between men and women had the highest frequency, followed by love as a form of suffering, love as destiny, love as freedom, love as a sacrifice, and love as dependence on money and social classes, respectively. The analysis of linguistic strategies in contemporary Luk Thung Isan music showed that there are four strategies, namely 1) vocabulary choice (repetition, vulgar words, loan words, and puns), 2) idiom, 3) semantics (denotation and connotation), and figurative speech (simile, metaphor, personification, and hyperbole. Contemporary Luk Thung Isan music has become an alternative medium through which music composers used such discourse to depict their perception of love based on the ever-changing social and global cultures.

งานวิจัยนี้เป็นการศึกษาวาทกรรมความรักในบทเพลงลูกทุ่งอีสานร่วมสมัย โดยศึกษาเพลงลูกทุ่งอีสานจาก www.youtube.com ในช่วงเดือนมกราคม-ธันวาคม พ.ศ. 2561 โดยได้เลือกเพลงลูกทุ่งอีสานที่มียอดวิวตั้งแต่ 1 ล้านวิวขึ้นไป จำนวน 20 Channel งานวิจัยนี้มีจุดมุ่งหมายเพื่อวิเคราะห์วาทกรรมความรักในบทเพลงลูกทุ่งอีสานร่วมสมัยและกลวิธีทางภาษาในบทเพลงลูกทุ่งอีสานร่วมสมัย โดยใช้ลักษณะทางวาทกรรมและกลวิธีทางภาษาในการนำเสนอวาทกรรมความรักในบทเพลงลูกทุ่งอีสานร่วมสมัย

ผลการวิจัยวาทกรรมความรักในบทเพลงลูกทุ่งอีสานร่วมสมัย พบว่า วาทกรรมความรักในบทเพลงลูกทุ่งอีสานร่วมสมัย พบว่า ความรักคือความสัมพันธ์ทางเพศระหว่างเพศชายกับเพศหญิงมากที่สุด รองลงมาคือความรักคือความทุกข์ ความรักคือบุพเพสันนิวาส ความรักคือความเสียสละ ความรักขึ้นอยู่กับเงินตราและชนชั้นทางสังคมตามลำดับ ส่วนกลวิธีทางภาษาในบทเพลงลูกทุ่งอีสานร่วมสมัย พบว่า ผู้ประพันธ์ได้ใช้กลวิธีทางภาษา 4 ประเด็นได้แก่ 1.กลวิธีทางภาษาด้านการใช้คำ ประกอบด้วย การใช้คำซ้ำ การใช้คำหยาบ การใช้คำภาษาต่างประเทศ การเล่นเสียงของคำ 2.กลวิธีทางภาษาด้านการใช้สำนวน 3.กลวิธีทางภาษาด้านการใช้ความหมาย ประกอบด้วย การสื่อความหมายโดยตรงและการสื่อความหมายโดยนัย 4.กลวิธีทางภาษาด้านการใช้โวหารภาพพจน์ประกอบด้วย อุปมา อุปลักษณ์ บุคลาธิษฐาน อติพจน์ บทเพลงลูกทุ่งอีสานจึงกลายเป็นสื่อทางเลือกที่ผู้ประพันธ์พยายามจะใช้วาทกรรมเหล่านั้นสะท้อนเห็นภาพดังกล่าว ที่ตั้งอยู่บนพื้นฐานของสังคมวัฒนธรรมตามกระแสโลกที่เปลี่ยนไป
