Learning Activities in Literature Books in Primary School Recommended by Ministry of Education

Abstract

The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the content, concepts, and activities of literature and literary learning activities in elementary-level textbooks. Regarding the research data, there were 18 textbooks included in the study; they were developed by the Ministry of Education, Academic Development Publishing Company Limited, and Aksorn Charoenthat Company Limited. Six textbooks were collected from each publisher. The data analysis employed a conceptual framework that related to the contents, concepts, and activities, as well as literature and literature learning. The analysis of this data was based on qualitative research methods. Results of the study were as follows.

Prose styles included Aesop's fables, Jataka fables, proverbs, causal stories, investigative short stories, and translated literature. As for the verse formats, they included Khlong Si Suphap (Quatrain), Kaapyaanii, Klon Supap, Klon Sepha, Klon Sakawa, Klon Nirat, Klon Dok Soi, Lullaby, and Croon. There were 7 types of literature and literary contents: 1) literature and fairy-tale literary works, 2) literature and didactic literature, 3) literature and drama-script literary works, 4) literature and emotion-expressing literary works, 5) literature and textbook literature, 6) literature and historical literary works, 7) literature and short-story literary works. Additionally, there were four notions embedded in literature and literary works: morality, ethics, education, knowledge and intelligence, family concept, and life skills. The findings of the entire study revealed that the style of poetry, content, concepts in literature, and literary works were all associated with the development of primary school learners.

Literature and literary learning activities were divided into 4 categories: 1) activities to develop language skills; 2) activities to develop thinking skills and create interactions between learners and teachers; 3) activities to develop self-study skills; 4) activities to enhance special experiences. In addition, the content of literature and literary works had a link to learning activities, and these learning activities were related to the development of learners. It was divided into elementary school (Prathomsuksa 1-2, equivalent to Grade 1-2). Most of the content was short stories. The content was easy to read and emphasized to provide morals to learners. For the middle elementary school (Prathomsuksa 3-4, equivalent to Grade 3-4), the content was a combination between easy short stories and longer stories. The plot was more complicated and the characters in the stories portrayed a myriad of behaviors, both positive and negative. As for the upper elementary school (Prathomsuksa 5-6, equivalent to Grades 5-6), most of the content is a lengthy story. Some of these long stories were presented in the short form of episodes, having more complex contents. In addition, the characters had more variety of behaviors to make the lesson content suitable for elementary school students.

วิทยานิพนธ์นี้มีความมุ่งหมายเพื่อศึกษา เนื้อหา แนวคิดและการจัดกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้วรรณคดีและวรรณกรรมในหนังสือเรียนระดับประถมศึกษา ข้อมูลวิจัยคือหนังสือเรียนที่ผลิตโดยกระทรวงศึกษาธิการ สำนักพิมพ์พัฒนาคุณภาพวิชาการ จำกัด และบริษัทอักษรเจริญทัศน์ จำกัด รวม 18 เล่ม การวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลใช้กรอบแนวคิดที่เกี่ยวข้องกับเนื้อหา แนวคิดและการจัดกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้วรรณคดีและวรรณกรรม โดยใช้วิธีการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ ผลการศึกษามีดังนี้

รูปแบบร้อยแก้ว ได้แก่ นิทานอีสป นิทานชาดก นิทานเทียบสุภาษิต นิทานอธิบายเหตุ เรื่องสั้นแนวสืบสวน และวรรณกรรมแปล ส่วนรูปแบบร้อยกรอง ได้แก่ โคลงสี่สุภาพ กาพย์ยานี กลอนสุภาพ กลอนเสภา กลอนบทละคร กลอนสักวา กลอนนิราศ กลอนดอกสร้อย เพลงกล่อมเด็ก และบทเห่กล่อม เนื้อหาวรรณคดีและวรรณกรรม มี 7 ประเภท คือ วรรณคดีและวรรณกรรมนิทาน วรรณคดีและวรรณกรรมคำสอน วรรณคดีและวรรณกรรมบทละคร วรรณคดีและวรรณกรรมแสดงอารมณ์ วรรณคดีและวรรณกรรมแบบเรียน วรรณคดีและวรรณกรรมประวัติศาสตร์ และวรรณคดีและวรรณกรรมเรื่องสั้น ส่วนแนวคิดที่ปรากฏในวรรณคดีและวรรณกรรม มี 4 แนวคิด ได้แก่ แนวคิดด้านคุณธรรมจริยธรรม แนวคิดด้านการศึกษา ความรู้และสติปัญญา แนวคิดด้านครอบครัว และแนวคิดด้านทักษะการดำเนินชีวิต ผลการศึกษาในภาพรวมพบว่ารูปแบบคำประพันธ์ เนื้อหา แนวคิดในวรรณคดีและวรรณกรรมทุกเรื่องมีความเชื่อมโยงกับพัฒนาการของผู้เรียนระดับประถมศึกษา

การจัดกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้วรรณคดีและวรรณกรรม แบ่งออกเป็น 4 กิจกรรม ได้แก่ กิจกรรมพัฒนาทักษะทางภาษา กิจกรรมพัฒนาทักษะการคิดและสร้างปฏิสัมพันธ์ระหว่างผู้เรียนกับครูผู้สอน กิจกรรมพัฒนาทักษะการแสวงหาความรู้ด้วยตนเอง และกิจกรรมเสริมสร้างประสบการณ์พิเศษ นอกจากนั้นเนื้อหาวรรณคดีและวรรณกรรมยังมีความเชื่อมโยงกับการจัดกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้ และการจัดกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้ก็มีความเชื่อมโยงกับพัฒนาการของผู้เรียน ซึ่งแบ่งออกเป็นชั้นประถมศึกษาตอนต้น (ป.1-2) เนื้อหาส่วนใหญ่เป็นเรื่องขนาดสั้น เนื้อเรื่องอ่านเข้าใจง่ายและเน้นให้ข้อคิดสอนใจแก่ผู้เรียน ชั้นประถมศึกษาตอนกลาง (ป.3-4) เนื้อหาผสมผสานระหว่างเรื่องขนาดสั้นที่อ่านเข้าใจง่ายกับเรื่องที่มีขนาดยาวขึ้น เนื้อเรื่องซับซ้อนขึ้นและมีตัวละครในเรื่องที่แสดงพฤติกรรมต่าง ๆ ทั้งด้านบวกและด้านลบ ส่วนชั้นประถมศึกษาตอนปลาย (ป.5-6) เนื้อหาส่วนใหญ่เป็นเรื่องขนาดยาว บางเรื่องมีการตัดตอน เนื้อเรื่องมาเพียงบางตอน เนื้อหาซับซ้อนมากขึ้น อีกทั้งตัวละครยังมีพฤติกรรมหลากหลายมากขึ้นเพื่อให้เนื้อหาบทเรียนเหมาะสมกับผู้เรียนระดับประถมศึกษา
