Patient Treatment Guidelines of Herbal Doctors in Bonoi Village Community Area, Thasongkhon Sub-District, Muang District, Mahasarakham Province

Abstract

The aims of this qualitative study were (1) to investigate the learning process of herbal doctors, and (2) to investigate patient treatment guidelines of herbal doctors residing in Bonoi Village, Thasongkhon Sub-District, Muang District, Mahasarakham Province. The samples included 40 persons, including herbal doctors, senior folks in Bonoi Village, relatives of the herbal doctors, public health volunteers and the network of local doctors. The research tools were questionnaire and in-depth interviews. Data were analyzed and presented in the form of descriptive analysis.

The findings indicated that in this village there were two herbal doctors named Tuanjai Puchin and Promma Khurakhan. Their learning process was classified into two major types, including becoming a herbal doctor with rituals involved since he/she was a descendant of the father who had passed away, and becoming a herbal doctor without rituals involved since he/she had a desire to become a herbal doctor with the search for knowledge from other herbal doctors and black magic.

The patient treatment guidelines of the two herbal doctors in Bonoi Village community included pre-treatment guidelines, real-time treatment guidelines and posttreatment guidelines. However, there were similarities and differences between the treatment guidelines of the two herbal doctors. Becoming herbal doctors in Bonoi village community involved morals, ethics and living up to social expectations.

งานวิจัยนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์ 2 ประการ คือ 1) เพื่อศึกษากระบวนการเรียนรู้การเป็นหมอยาสมุนไพร และ 2) เพื่อศึกษาแนวทางการรักษาผู้เจ็บป่วยของหมอยาสมุนไพรบ้านบ่อน้อย ตำบลท่าสองคอน อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดมหาสารคาม เป็นการศึกษาโดยใช้รูปแบบการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ (Qualitative Research) โดยมีกลุ่มตัวอย่าง คือ หมอยาสมุนไพร ผู้อาวุโสในหมู่บ้านบ่อน้อย บุคคลในครอบครัวหมอยาสมุนไพร ผู้ป่วย ญาติผู้ป่วย ที่เคยได้รับการรักษาจากหมอยาสมุนไพร อาสาสมัครสาธารณสุข และเครือข่ายหมอพื้นบ้าน รวมจำนวน 40 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยคือ แบบสอบถาม และแบบสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก และนำเสนอผลการศึกษาค้นคว้า โดยใช้วิธีพรรณนาเชิงวิเคราะห์

ผลการศึกษาพบว่า กระบวนการเรียนรู้ของหมอยาสมุนไพรมี 2 ท่าน คือ หมอเตือนใจ ปุชิน และหมอพรหมมา ขุระขันธ์ โดยมีกระบวนการเรียนรู้การเป็นหมอยาสมุนไพรในชุมชนบ้านบ่อน้อย โดยแบ่งได้ 2 วิธีการรักษาหลัก คือ1) การเป็นหมอยาสมุนไพรแบบไม่มีพิธีกรรม ที่มาจากลูกหลานอยู่ในครอบครัวเดียวกันแทนบิดาที่เสียชีวิตลง และ 2) การเป็นหมอยาสมุนไพรแบบมีพิธีกรรม ที่มาจากความต้องการอยากเป็นหมอ โดยการแสวงหาความรู้จากหมอยาสมุนไพร และคาถาอาคม

สำหรับแนวทางการรักษาผู้เจ็บป่วยของหมอยาสมุนไพรมี 2 ท่าน คือ หมอเตือนใจ ปุชิน และหมอพรหมมา ขุระขันธ์ ซึ่งมีแนวทางการรักษาผู้เจ็บป่วยของหมอยาสมุนไพรในชุมชนบ้านบ่อน้อย โดยแบ่งแนวทางการรักษาได้ 3 แนวทางหลัก คือ 1) แนวทางก่อนการรักษาผู้เจ็บป่วย 2) แนวทางขณะทำการรักษาผู้เจ็บป่วย 3) แนวทางปฏิบัติต่อหมอยาสมุนไพรหลังผู้เจ็บป่วยหายจากอาการเจ็บป่วยแล้วโดยมีความเหมือนและความแตกต่างของแนวทางการรักษาผู้เจ็บป่วยทั้ง 2 ท่าน พร้อมยังมีบทบาทของหมอยาสมุนไพรที่มีต่อชุมชนบ้านบ่อน้อย รวมไปถึงการสืบต่อคุณค่าของหมอยาสมุนไพรทั้ง 2 ท่าน และการเป็นหมอยาสมุนไพรในชุมชนบ้านบ่อน้อยจะต้องมีคุณธรรม และจรรยาบรรณการเป็นหมอตามที่สังคมคาดหวังด้วย
