The Relationships Between Resilience, Friendship Intimacy, and Adaptation under the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID - 19) Pandemic Among High School Students

Abstract

Background: The coronavirus pandemic has upended education system. Therefor, the high school students need to properly adapt themselves during the epidemic situation.

Objectives: This research aimed to study the correlation between resilience, friendship Intimacy and adaptation under the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) epidemic situation among high school students.

Methods: This was a descriptive correlational research design. A sample of 187 high school students was recruited by stratified random sampling technique. Data were obtained during December 2022 to January 2023. Research instruments included demographic questionnaires, resilience questionnaires, intimacy of friendship questionnaires, and adaptation during the COVID - 19 pandemic questionnaires. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficients were 0.93, 0.81 and 0.91 respectively. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistic and Pearson’s correlation coefficient.

Results: The results showed that the high school students had an overall resilience average score of 110.26 (SD = 10.87), overall friendship intimacy average score of 47.43 (SD = 5.97), and overall adaptation under the COVID – 19 epidemic score of 4.01 (SD = 0.28). It was found that resilience and friendship intimacy had positive significant correlation with adaptation under the COVID - 19 epidemics (r = 0.241 and r = 0.318, p < 0.01 respectively).

Recommendation: Healthcare providers and academic administrators should be aware for building resilience and intimacy of friendship to promote better adaptation under the COVID - 19 pandemic among high school students.

วัตถุประสงค์การวิจัย: เพื่อศึกษาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างความแข็งแกร่งในชีวิต ความผูกพันใกล้ชิดกับเพื่อนกับการปรับตัวภายใต้สถานการณ์การแพร่ระบาดโรคโควิด - 19 ของนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาตอนปลาย

วิธีการวิจัย: การวิจัยเชิงพรรณนาแบบหาความสัมพันธ์ กลุ่มตัวอย่าง ได้แก่ นักเรียนมัธยมศึกษาตอนปลาย จำนวน 187 คน โดยการสุ่มแบบชั้นภูมิ เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลระหว่าง เดือนธันวาคม 2565 - มกราคม 2566 เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยประกอบด้วย แบบสอบถามข้อมูลส่วนบุคคล แบบประเมินความแข็งแกร่งในชีวิต แบบประเมินความผูกพันใกล้ชิดกับเพื่อน และแบบประเมินการปรับตัวภายใต้สถานการณ์การแพร่ระบาดโรคโควิด - 19 ซึ่งมีค่าความเชื่อมั่นเท่ากับ 0.93, 0.81 และ 0.91 ตามลำดับ การวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลใช้สถิติเชิงพรรณนา ความถี่ ร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และสถิติสหสัมพันธ์แบบเพียร์สัน

ผลการวิจัย: ความแข็งแกร่งในชีวิตโดยรวมมีค่าเฉลี่ย 110.26 (SD = 10.87) ความผูกพันใกล้ชิดกับเพื่อนโดยรวมมีค่าเฉลี่ย 47.43 (SD = 5.97) การปรับตัวภายใต้สถานการณ์การแพร่ระบาดโรคโควิด - 19 โดยรวมมีค่าเฉลี่ย 4.01 (SD = 0.28) ความแข็งแกร่งในชีวิตและความผูกพันใกล้ชิดกับเพื่อนมีความสัมพันธ์ทางบวกในระดับต่ำกับการปรับตัวภายใต้สถานการณ์ การแพร่ระบาดโรคโควิด - 19 อย่าง มีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (r = 0.241 และ r = 0.318, p < .01 ตามลำดับ)

ข้อเสนอแนะ: พยาบาลจิตเวชและบุคลากรด้านการศึกษา ควรให้ความสำคัญและหากิจกรรมสร้างความแข็งแกร่งในชีวิต ความผูกพันใกล้ชิดกับเพื่อน เพื่อส่งเสริมการปรับตัวที่ดีภายใต้สถานการณ์การแพร่ระบาดโรคโควิด - 19 ของนักเรียนมัธยมศึกษาตอนปลาย
