The Development of Thai Reading Ability for Grade 6 Students Using Extensive Reading Activities

Abstract

The aim of this research was 1) to create and to find the effectiveness of lesson plans about reading by using Extensive Reading activities for grade 6 students to be effective in accordance with the 80/80 criteria 2) to compare academic achievement of reading ability between before and after using Extensive Reading activities for grade 6 students.The sample consisted of 14 students in primary school level 6 at Ban Han Hee School, Ruttanaburi District, Surin Province under Surin Primary Educational Service Area Office 2, obtained by Purposive Sampling. The tools used for data collection were Extensive Reading activities lesson plans with 20 hours and exercises, academic achievement test, and 30 items of multiple-choice exam. The reliability of the exam was 0.94. The data was analyzed by using basic statistics such as percentage, mean, standard deviation, and statistical test for t (t - test Dependent Samples). The research results were as follows.

1. The effectiveness of the Analysis revealed that plans for reading ability by using Extensive Reading activities for grade 6 students was 81.52/80.28.

2. The students who learned reading by using Extensive Reading activities had a significantly higher average score of post-study achievement was .05.

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีความมุ่งหมายคือ 1. เพื่อพัฒนาแผนการจัดการเรียนรู้โดยใช้กิจกรรมการอ่านอย่างกว้างขวาง สำหรับนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 6 ให้มีประสิทธิภาพตามเกณฑ์ 80/80 2. เพื่อเปรียบเทียบความสามารถด้านการอ่านก่อนและหลังการจัดการเรียนรู้โดยใช้กิจกรรมการอ่านอย่างกว้างขวาง สำหรับนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 6 กลุ่มเป้าหมาย ได้แก่ นักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 6 จำนวน 14 คน โรงเรียนหาญฮี อำเภอรัตนบุรี จังหวัดสุรินทร์ สำนักงานเขตพื้นที่การศึกษาประถมศึกษา สุรินทร์ เขต 2 ได้มาโดยการสุ่มตัวอย่างแบบเลือกกลุ่มตัวอย่างแบบเจาะจง เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูล ได้แก่ แผนการจัดการเรียนรู้กิจกรรมการอ่านอย่างกว้างขวาง จำนวน 20 ชั่วโมง แบบทดสอบความสามารถด้านการอ่าน แบบปรนัยชนิดเลือกตอบ 4 ตัวเลือก จำนวน 30 ข้อ มีค่าความเชื่อมั่นเท่ากับ 0.94 วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยใช้สถิติพื้นฐาน ได้แก่ ร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และสถิติทดสอบค่าที (t – test Dependent Samples) ผลการวิจัยปรากฏดังนี้

1 แผนการจัดการเรียนรู้โดยใช้กิจกรรมการอ่านอย่างกว้างขวาง สำหรับนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 6 มีค่าเท่ากับ 81.52/80.28 ซึ่งเป็นไปตามเกณฑ์ 80/80 ที่กำหนด

2. นักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 6 ได้รับการพัฒนาความสามารถด้านการอ่านโดยใช้กิจกรรมการอ่านอย่างกว้างขวาง ทำให้มีความสามารถด้านการอ่านสูงกว่าก่อนเรียน อย่างมีนัยสําคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05
